Face Book Mystery?	Can't Post

I'm filled out my Face Book page, filled in name DOB, where I went to school, and where I currently work. That's it. As part of the process a possible friends list shows up, I dont know any of them but the guy at the top of the list is DB that screwed me out of 20k. My kids coukd not explain it. There was nothing in my account that should have linked me to him. It can't be random...does it suggest he recently looked me up? I gotta know.

I believe it has to do with the email address you use to log on. The DB must have it in his contact info.

It usually looks at people in your area that filled out the same info, i.e. went to this High School/College, work together, email addresses etc. It also looks to see how many people you are both friends with. If you are new and have a couple of the same friends, he will show up. You can hover over his pic and 'X' in the suggestions tab so it doesn't show up again. Or block him from even seeing your profile in the settings area.

I have had similar things happen FB has suggest people that I might know that I do know that aren't friends with any of my other friends.

don't let it dissuade you. I have been laid by 5 different girls since I signed onto FB. now mind you, 5 isnt a big number of conquests,

but

the cool thing is all 5 of them were girls that I spent my formative years jerking off to the thought of.

nothing more validating than nailing a girl from your spank bank.

Bingo, if you are in the somebodies contacts and they link to FB you will get the "friend" deal. I have had a few real oddballs show up from that link.

That my email could be in his contact list makes sense. It would follow I should have seen 20-30 people I email rather regularly that have a FB page to emerge in a friends list. It was just so bizzare to see this guy, the last person I would expect, showing up at the top of a potential "friends list" and all the other candidates being complete strangers. Thanks for the help.

For real! I would say FB has caused me far more problems than its worth, particularly with girlfriends. It is nothing but another society spy tool, tin foil hats ppl!!! I still dont understand why girls would tag me in photos knowing damn well my gf would be bitching at me the next morning? They are getting better abou their security settings, but u have been warned!

The whole "email contacts" thing should only work if one of you allowed FB to access their email to search for friends.

A few months ago I had an ex girlfriend pop up as a "person you might know", with whom I have zero friends in common. I was a little confused as to how it made that link, but I can only assume that she let FB scan her email contacts for potential friends.

FB can be sketchy if you don't manage your security settings effectively or take certain precautions. For example, I don't have anyone from work on my FB. I miss some stuff, and most of them are pretty cool people - but I like to keep my work life separate from my personal life. I also don't have most of my family on FB. I don't need my aunts reading Andy/Jen/Vince/D ripping on stupid shit I might not have even done... :p

Of course, FB also gives us beautiful moments like these:

Ohhhh SNAP, that last one about the lady gettin laid was hilarious. Ive seen some pretty egregious facebook user errors, but that one takes the cake.
