How I spent my economic stimulus check Can't Post

Paid off medical bills. For an unnecessary surgery, based on a misdiagnosis. Good times.

You?

I bought drywall and a fireplace for my basement. I think I probably had to chip in some extra funds though. I have to wait for the next one in order to get the money to run the gas line!

No, my bofriend's name is not Luke. But yes, it's a good situation for everyone. Snackie gets to spend the summer being a kid playing in the ocean with her cousins, Gram gets to have her there, I get to spend the summer playing here.

What is a stimulus check?

Once again, just something that we (typically Republicans) get to non-voluntarily provide for everyone else in the nation.

You're welcome :-)

Re: How I spent my economic stimulus check [Katy] [In reply to] Can't Post

Not sure what your post has to do with anything (although it is quite a well constructive and provocative response). Everyone pays too much for taxes - it is just that those who pay the most in taxes receive the least amount of benefits of doing so.

Along with stimulus check receivers, I could also include:

1) all government workers who will receive pensions (when I will not and I will have to save for my own retirement),
2) all unemployed people making less than $50k/year (as someone who makes above level, I am paying in to a system where my benefit is pathetically unequal to what I put in).
3) all government workers who receive raises regardless of whether their branch of government where they work achieves a similar profit level (where again, we have no such guarantee because our pay is based on "performance" - a novel idea for the government worker)
4) all pathetic losers who desire the government to bail them out of their own stupidity because they purchased a home they are(were) unable to afford
5) welfare recipients
6) and any number of other people in our society who seem to think that their (poor) decisions in life should be paid for by those who typically have applied themselves better, worked harder, taken more risk, and subsequently "get" the opportunity to take care of society.

Now, what is it exactly you'd like me to bite? :-)

Of course I pay for it upfront. Twice a month I have to give the government money. You just don't RECEIVE it right away ;-)

...quite the contrary (according to my friends, schoolmates, teachers, professors, business colleagues, etc.), and while I wish I could say the same (which I will not, as you at least spelled the "You're" correctly), I will simply thank you for your intellectually stimulating and thought provoking response.

Oh, and you AND your kids are welcome.

Well, if your mom says you're not an idiot, I guess there must be some other explanation for your idiotic posts here.

Do you really think you paid for anyone's tax rebate?

Well, apparently the intellectual debate will end here, as your nonsensical reply demonstrates:

At NO point did I utilize my family in that phrase (which I omitted them from the list by choice), so you have apparently misread and/or misinterpreted the very simple sentence I constructed. By the way, my mother is dead a$$hole, so she doesn't say much of anything (although the juvenile "mother" slam would have been more effective if I had referenced her).

...and what/who do you think pays for stimulus checks, incentives, etc.? Withstanding the usual "funny money" and "government spending money it doesn't have" arguments, the theoretical basis for any government spending is derived from income - which the vast majority (upwards of 70%) is paid by that extremely small minority of people earning roughly $100k/year ( I believe the last figure actually showed the number to be $108k/yr but I thought I'd round it to an easy number for you to remember like 100)

Re: How I spent my economic stimulus check [Craigster] [In reply to] Can't Post

what/who do you think pays for stimulus checks, incentives, etc.?

What makes you think they're paid for, idiot? Withstanding your theoretical non sequitur about how government spending is based on income, the FACT is that the government is running a budget deficit, and was running that deficit prior to the stimulus checks.

If you want to pretend that the stimulus checks were really government spending that has been based on income, have at it. In that case, I paid for my rebate, idiot. I paid a good bit more than my $1800 rebate in federal income tax in 2007. If the government decides to refund some of it to me, that doesn't mean you're paying for it. Maybe you'd have a case if I didn't pay any income tax in 2007, or if your 2007 tax bill was retroactively increased by 1800 bucks to cover the shortfall that my rebate created, but neither one of those things is true.

Bite me, idiot.
