Recycling-apartments/townhomes/condos Can't Post

When I used to live with my dad, I would throw anything recyclable into a recycling bin. Now, I live in a townhouse where there is just a big dumpster.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to recycle stuff so I thought I'd ask. Do you just set them aside and make weekly trips to the recycling center?

Why couldn't my bike stand up by itself? It was TOO TIRED!!!!

If your town is like mine, the city provides recycle containers for residences under 6 units, and the condo association, if it decides to, must contract with their trash hauler to add recycling to their package. Our condo assn just added it for an additional 25 dollars a month to have a separate recycle container.

$25/month just for a recycling container? My city charges something like $9/month for trash AND recycling.

6 Units is a city of Chicago thing. If you really want to find out how to do it, call your city hall and ask them. They may have a rule for multi-unit structures they may not.

Find a drop off site and drop off your stockpiled stuff when you're in the area.

I thought this was going to be a condo conversion thread.

I pay into a recycling co-op. I have a few bins in my garage that I save, and when they are overflowing (or when my wife starts getting on my case about it) I throw them in the pick-up and drop them off.

They aren't always open and the people there are generally unfriendly and unhelpful. Also, they have specific rules about how the stuff has to be prepared. Everything has to be sorted and cleaned. Labels have to be taken off. Some stuff has to be crushed, others don't. God forbid if something is not properly prepared.

Sometimes I think that I am a complete fool for doing this co-op thing. Seriously, I pay out of pocket money for this abuse. It makes no sense. I am just a glutton for abuse I guess.
