Anybody try the new Vittoria Open Corsa EVO CX II clincher tires yet?
Can't Post
Does anybody know how the new Vittoria Open Corsa EVO CX II tires compare to the original Open Corsa EVO CX tires with respect to puncture resistance/durability, longevity, and rolling resistance?

There have been a couple of threads asking this. I don't think any of them have gotten a response, however.
I would like to know as well. Maybe people just haven't gotten a chance to test them out yet. I think they are relatively new to market.

I raced at the Fitchburg-Longsjo Stage race today with an old Vittoria EVO-CX (290 tpi) on the front and a new one on the rear (320 tpi). Both worked. Can't really tell you much more than that.

So you didn't have any issues with the rear end of the bike wanting to go past the front end?

I have a 320tpi on front and 290tpi on rear. Recently switched from Michellin Pro race 3. No flats and no problems. I like the tires but couldn't really tell you they are any better / faster than the Michellins. I way 210lbs. and am curious what psi I should be using. They hold 145psi max and I usually go 135. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Strangely leading question.. you have a story you'd like to share about not being able to keep your bike upright?
As I know (I toured the Vittoria facility in Thailand a few months ago), there is no change with tread, durometer, etc. The change comes in the casing TPI only. I have two pair, one pair which will be raced next weekend by my wife in the pro category at Ironman Switzerland next weekend. And I'm pre-riding her wheels and tires tomorrow morning in the Swiss Alps. I sure hope there is no rear-tire-ahead-of-front-tire experience descending to the valley first thing in the morning. Then again, I watched how they make these tires... no qualms whatsoever. i've ridden the earlier iteration and had little puncture issues. I'm more curious about how the ride suppleness will be. Vittoria is already the standard that makes the term "open tubular" an adequate description. bumping up the TPI that much ought to make it more so.. will find out tomorrow on a long ride with the TeamTBB crew.

You sound like a man in the know. Any suggestions for psi for a 210lb. rider with these tires and Flashpoint 60 wheels??

They are very similar to the zipp tangente clinchers which are made by Vittoria. This is the chart on the zipp site:

If possible, could you post your opinions of the new EVO CX II tires in this thread after you have had a chance to try them out. I currently use the Michelin Pro3 Race and Bontrager Race X Lite Pro tires and prefer the Bontragers for their smoother feel. It is my understanding that the Bontragers were largely based upon the original EVO CX tires. Given the difficulty that I have had in obtaining Bontrager tires, I am thinking about picking up some EVO CX II tires. The Vittoria website indicates that the EVO CX IIs have a new PRB 2.0 puncture resistant belting (whatever that is) underneath the tread that increases the flat prevention properties by up to 40%.

I have a set mounted on my relatively new Zipp 808's. I've had zero problems with them. I have probably 500 or miles on them and I do not see any unusual wear that one reviewer seemed to have. I run mine at 120psi and I go 190. At that psi I they seem to roll very well but still have some suppleness. I'm very pleased with them.
Hard to see 'em too well but here is a photo:

I now have about 120mi on a set. Cant say that they feel unlike the prior version at all.

Couple of you guys like beating the heck out of yourselves! I'm 218 and run 100psi with no problems at all.

Can for sure put my .02 after riding later today, and agreed, there's not a weight limit issue with tire wear any more than any tire. But I'm just 160 lbs so I'm not gonna put too much wear weight into the rubber. I really want to see how they ride around corners and over bad roads, compared to the earlier iteration. But you can tell how supple they are out of the box; even folded up, they bend like cloth... no stiffness in the casing or bead.
Additionally, Zack Vestal put very thorough higher-mileage test piece of the tire onto the VeloNews site a few weeks ago... do a search in their tech section and you'll find it.
