Be FATStrong Can't Post

Why is being 5'8" 205 with 30% bodyfat and some muscle more desired than being 5'8" 165 and 8% and some muscle in this country? There are alot of guys out there with 20-35% bodyfat, some muscle, but mostly fat and zero cardio base. They usually go into the gym, do 30 minutes of weights, and take off. For some reason people at the gym see this as being fit.

I came to this revelation as I noticed a heavier guy was criticizing his wife for not working hard enough in the gym, when he had to have about 30% bodyfat while she wasn't more than 10%. I just scratched my head.

I know some of you are thinking that its none of my business and I shouldn't worry about what others are doing, but really we've set a horrible precedent for what fitness in this country is. People will look at a triathlete and consider them 'too skinny' that they need 'more meat on thier bones'. All the while health care costs go up and people seem to be dying alot younger than 20 years ago.

I don't know where we lost it, but it seems to be a recent phenomenon of the last 10-15 years...I blame the Holly Hero (Arnold, Seagal, Vin Diesel) and the NFL for it as people want to look like them but they don't want to put in the work of cutting and dieting. People seem to think if they're 5'10, 235, with some fat that they're a bruiser, NFL type build, or an MMA fighter. Usually it falls very short of that.

Thoughts?

It could probably be argued that neither the muscular guy in the gym with a higher bodyfat percentage, or the slim trim triathlete are the reasons why American healthcare costs are going up. Perhaps your beef is with the person who doesn't go to the gym at all?

Ppl are funny like that. My old high school buddies were all football and basketball jocks, and i was the swimmer/runner. They all still f with me for being "too skinny," but i outlast all of them whether it be in the gym, or outside playing bball/football.

Have you been to a local triathlon lately? I would say the vast minority of participants would be considered "too skinny." Even "skiny, period" may be less than 50%. Reflection of population as a whole.

As a population / culture we've gotten so collectively fat and unfit that "kinda fat and kinda fit" now looks better than most. Although I disagree with the NFL bashing. Virtually all of the skill players are in shape and ripped.

When I saw the title of the thread, I figured you'd caught a glimpse of me after 10 days in taper mode for my big race this weekend. I feel so fat. How gay is that? (I've ballooned to 153.)

All this makes me think of the other day when I had to go to the grocery store. I was at the back end and need to get to the front to check out. Every time I turned down an isle, there was a single woman (a different one each time) who was so fat I would not have been able to pass with my shopping cart. I couldn't find an isle I could use to get to the front. It was disgusting. So many fat people. So fat they can't get out of their own way. Truly disgusting and shameful ... and yet, they feel no shame.

I'm an old guy. You'll have to help me out. What's "bbw" mean?

As for porn, if it doesn't involve Sarah Palin, I'm not into it.

In all fairness, I must admit that I'm blessed with quite favorable circumstances that allow me to train pretty much at will. Were it not for that, I'd probably be big as a house.
