Beach2Battleship

So Ive read a few of the race reports posted here for the fulll distance. From the reports and the course maps it looks like there are a few bridges to climb. Other than those how is the run course? Is it as flat as advertised? Mostly shaded? I read the bike was cold during the early miles but how about the wind?

It was a really enjoyable run course. Pretty much flat with a couple of short hills and the bridges. There is a really nice part through the park and a local neighborhood that is shaded but other than that, it is fairly open.
There was no wind. None, 0, nada. It was a perfect day for a bike ride.

Well ... except for the 38 degree start. But aside from that, it really was a great day. I understand that they're making a few changes to the bike course this year. Anyone have any details?

They have a "new interactive map" on the website - looks to be the same as last year for the full.
Mostly I would like to know if they are improving the crossings on the metal grates on the bridges, expecially that second one - carpet doesn't cut it.

I did not do it last year, but I heard that they are trying to reduce the number of intersections that have to be crossed. Nothing has been finalized, but I heard that instead of going through downtown they are thinking of sending the riders out North on Rt17 then to I140.

They do have the new course on the website---probably easiest to find it in the athlete packet posted on-line at this point---looks to be a few more turns through "downtown" on the way out and then pretty much a straight shot back into the battleship---including them closing a lane on the interstate!!! Run is a little different from last year also---6.55 out-and-back done twice for the full (seems like basically you don't go all the way around the lake...).
