Cervelo P2SL Ultegra vs Dura Ace Can't Post

I've narrowed down the choice of my first triathlon / time trial bike to an 08 Cervelo P2SL. A dealer in my area has both the Ultegra and Dura Ace builds in stock in my size on sale. $1450 for the Ultegra and $1525 for Dura Ace. I rode the Dura Ace build for 2 hours today and was really impressed but I'm not sure I'll notice any difference in shifting performance over Ultegra.

I like the anodized frame better than the yellow painted Ultegra. However, I will most certainly want to swap out the compact crank with a standard (last 2 time trials I did I spun out my 50/11 while others passed me). I know $75 doesn't seem like much but I will also still need pedals and a TT helmet.

Does the anodized finish hold up that much better over the years? Is it silly to pass up the upgrade to Dura Ace derailleurs for $75 bucks?

Thanks for any advice.

My opinion, for $75 go DA. You might not notice the shift quality, but the components should last a little longer. Just personal preference, but I prefer the gray anodized.

THAT my friend is worth the extra $75 don't you think? Add to that resale value etc. and it is a pretty easy choice in my world.

The faster bike is the one that you like more and train on more. If you can't notice the difference in the components, go with aesthetics. Sad, but they do matter. And they better, when you are laying down a good chunk of change.

when you get ready to upgrade to your P2/P3C (all the alu cervelo owners lust for carbon) you'll be happier that you got the D/A version as it looks better and will have superior resale value...to help offset the cost of your new carbon (insert cervelo model here).

joking aside, if you travel the anodized finish is far better than the yellow paint. also, for $75 you will have better resale value if you decide to dump it. if you decide to keep it, you already have D/A so no need to invest more money on upgrading components.
