D/A 10spd Q? Can't Post

I'm currently using the Ultegra 12-21 and thinking about getting D/A 10-spd (12-23). Will it work on the Ultegra rear dearailleur? Or I need to get a new D/A rear dearailleur too?

Is the sproket tooth configuration for the said 10-spd like this 12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,21,23?

Thanks.

Yes, that is the correct cassette ratio.

I'm a little confused w/ your question. Are you saying you plan on upgrading to new D/A shifters, crank, etc... but would like keep your Ultegra derailleur? Or are you saying you just want to stick a 10 speed cassette on there and expect to have 10 speeds? Can you clarify a bit? I'm assuming you want access to all 10 speeds, right?

You will need a drivetrain with complete compatibility to Dura-Ace 10 speed- crank, BB, chian, cogset, derailleur and shifters. 10 speed cogs will spline onto a 9 speed Shimano compatible hub though.

10 speed Ultegra is already in the US in prototype form in limited quantities and is beind debuted this weekend I believe at a Shimano sales meeting.

It worked.

That is what I thought. I figured if I bumped this post back up to the 1st page, eventually Tom D. or another expert would chime in.

Rush Hour, if you want to make sure you get an answer to a question, the best time to post is during the week, preferably earlier in the day. The key is for it to be on the 1st page when the most people can view it.

Hello Tom,

Just wondering if you tried a 9s derailleur or if its what the literature says. I remember when 9 speed came out Shimano claimed you needed a complete upgrade from 8, but in reality you could use a lot of 8 speed parts.

I thought I could simply switch the cogs (and a rear derailleur) w/out changing everything else. Now I guess I'll need to have a complete make over. Thanks, Tom and Jaylew.
