Half Marathon 1 Week Before 70.3? Can't Post

Call me a fool but is it possible to recover from a half marathon (if treated like a training run) the week before 70.3 Oceanside. Assuming i get a massage post-1/2 marathon and taper properly. Keep in mind i'm only 21 years old (if that helps my recovery time).

For what it's worth, I know someone who did a FULL marathon 6 days before a HIM. He won his AG in the marathon and then won his AG in the HIM. He was 68yrs, did a 3:32 marathon and 6 days later did a 5:24 HIM!!!

I have a coach and I usually do a 30m ride/6m brick on Sat and then a 10m run on Sat. so a Half marathon as long as you don't race is probably fine. Alot of it depends on your level of fitness - I just did a pretty intense (3 X 2,000m, 2 X 1,000m) track workout on Tuesday with a girl who ran a 1:25 half marathon on Sunday on a pretty hilly course.

For me personally, I would be too sore. If you race it, then I would call you a fool.

Why do people insist on piling on races around each other?

It's as if people purposely try to sabotage their own races and I don't understand. With running races almost every weekend, it makes no sense.

You know how the saying goes, "you cant do anything to improve your fitness in the week or so leading up to your race, but you can do everything to screw it up." This is one of those times, because even if you were to run it at a miserabley slow pace, you would still be f'ing up the taper period.
