Health question
Can't Post
I have just discovered I have hypertension. My dad has it and I have been hoping I didn't catch that gene but looks like I did. Will I have to shut down triathloning or is there a hypertension med without side effects used by athletes. Do of the twitch nation athletes use a specific med they have found effective or am I just up crap creek.

lower your salt intake
up your potassium intake
I can't speak for meds - but those are two things that should help

I have read a lower potassium level causes to much salt to be absorbed into the cells reducing water volume thus raising the pressure. I would really like to try a holistic approach. Not that I'm against Dr.s but I have read way to many side effects for normal hypertensive medications.Dean

I don't know much about hypertension and its treatment, except that my mom is hypertensive and her doctor told her low sodium, lots of potassium.
