How The Kenyans Take On New York
Can't Post
Hello All,
I have been missing something in my training, electrodes, though I do wash my socks ............. :)
http://www.nytimes.com/...s.html?th&emc=th
Excerpt:
After breakfast Thursday, Cheruiyot went to a room in the hotel for an hour of sophisticated physiotherapy. He stripped to his underwear, lay on the bed and was covered by towels by the therapist, Carlo Terni. Then Terni went to work with what the Rosa group calls the Machine.
The treatment employs a device used by track runners but infrequently by marathon runners. With a pair of circular electrodes that extend from a console and are rubbed along the body from head to toe, the machine uses the attraction and repulsion of electrical charges to create stimulation at the cellular level, triggering the body’s natural healing process, stimulating blood flow and relieving muscle pain. Cheruiyot laughed hysterically when an electrode massaged his ears.
“Dr. Rosa’s team has preparations like no other,” said Mary Wittenberg, race director of the New York City Marathon.
A talented physiotherapist can be as important to a runner as his shoes. “There are three people in the world, God, the pope and me,” Terni said with a laugh as he worked on Cheruiyot. “I work for the other two.”
Meanwhile, Kwambai lay under the covers in his room, watching a replay of a hockey game between the Rangers and the Islanders. The rough play puzzled him. “I ask myself why these people want to make the other people to have an injury for nothing,” Kwambai said.
He put on the racing flats he would use Sunday, as well as a pair of new socks, to break them in. “Make sure you get them rough,” Berardelli, the coach, said, warning against blisters.
The day before the race, Berardelli planned to wash both runners’ socks and racing uniforms. Last April in Boston, Cheruiyot dropped out with a back injury. A possible cause was the chafing from a new pair of shorts that led him to alter his stride.

there a whole lot of things and procedures that seem to "trigger the natural healing process" and "simulate bloodflow"
its a wonder you actually need to worry about it, considering how easy these processes seem to be triggered =)

Screw the electrotherapy. I'm suddenly panicked about my underwear chafing me and the fact that I may become crippled as a result of it. You have to be going full tilt for something like that to happen.

"A talented physiotherapist can be as important to a runner as his shoes." That makes me laugh.
“I ask myself why these people want to make the other people to have an injury for nothing,” Dudes needs to HTFU. He'll never win with such a wussified attitude.
