How many people are into Organic Foods? Can't Post

Just taking a quick survey of how many people are in to organic foods?

How many people drink soy milk?

What kind of soy milk do you drink?

What are some of your favorite snack foods between meals?

I just started drinking some soy milk, but I still use other dairy products. I do buy many 100% organic items, but I am not religious about it.

Tried soy milk--Sorry, that stuff is just nasty (and I used to help grow soy beans). Free-range venison is my protein of choice. Next would be free-range pheasant.

I eat mostly organic foods.

More rice milk than soy but soy is good too.

Between meals I eat a lot of fruit and vegies. A peanut butter sandwich on whole grain bread is a good snack too! I found this really great bread you should try. The name is kind of lame but it's good stuff. It's called Men's Bread.

"Free range chicken thank you."

Oh yes a chicken coup with a door to the outside. When I was a child I used to watch the wild herds of chickens running free. The herds used to stretch for miles and miles.

... yep... those were the days... then, the fences showed up and it was all down hill for the free range chicken ranchers. Then came the range wars... it was chicken rancher vs. free range chicken rancher. Egg russeling became epidemic and branding meant nothing. It was illegal to carry a wire cutter and containers for eggs. The history books said it was bad. Fleather's flew for sure... but in the end, chickens lost their freedom to roam and the chicken drives of past became a victum of industrialization and technology. And, Now - history comes full circle and the free range chicken become popular and is re-defined as a product of contempory marketing. heavy sigh. :-)

i only eat chicken that dies from natural causes.

Occasionaly, when i'm searching a pasture for some 'shrooms after a heavy rainfall, i'll hit the jackpot and come across a naturally deceased cow.

Since I'm organic and therefore natural, could a chicken whose head I have forcibly removed be considered to have died from "natural causes"?

yeah, it sucks it has to be so expensive. im spending a fortune, it hurts. still its funny that I see some people willing to only put premium gasoline into a car, yet they feel sub premium food is adequate for their own personal engine.

Yeah, I'm into organic foods. Eggs, cereal, meats, chicken. Soy milk too (I think it's Silk brand). The vaninlla soy is good but a little to sweet. I don't drink milk that often, but once a week at Starbucks I'll get a hot chocolate or cafe mocha with soy milk.

Snack foods: bananas with almond butter. almonds and walnuts. fruit (usually apples). Cliff bars if it's a big training day and I'm hungry.

I was drinking a half gallon of soy milk, silk chocolate mixed in smoothies every two days. That, along with tempeh, tofu and everything else I could use that was soy, until I read that soy is probably whats giving me kidney stones

Re: How many people are into Organic Foods? [triblooper] [In reply to] Can't Post

I eat organic when I can but unfortunately it is sometimes out of my price range. In the spring and summer I eat stuff out of my garden which is organic.

I drink soymilk quite a bit, usually whatever is on sale at the store and the same with tofu, just had some last night as a matter of fact. I try and eat as "vegan" as possible but I do on occasion have cheese and yogurt. Ive been a vegetarian for 20 years and Im not dead yet. Snack wise I try and eat some fruit during the day but I do have a cookie addiction that needs a fix every once in a while:)

"...a chicken coup..."

Is that when the chickens all get together and overthrow the farmer? I always knew those chickens were sneaky bitches. I'll bet it's that sexy Rhode Island Red who's the ringleader. I thought I saw her looking at me funny the other day.

Re: How many people are into Organic Foods? [triblooper] [In reply to] Can't Post

I go to a small market here in Naples that has all Organic Fruit and Veggies. I try to be a Vegetarian on Tuesdays and Thursday (that's when I'm a Buddhist). I've learned about alternative foods and the use of beans to provide protein. Since I live in Florida, fresh fruit is available year round especially oranges, bananas and strawberries.

I have never like soymilk but I do love Yogurt as my daily intake of dairy. I use a "natural" yogurt and even make my own Yogurt ice cream.

I have very little red meat and love free-range chixs and piggies! I love turkey but a free-range turkey is hard to find.

Every weekend I make two loaves of bread, sometimes 7-grain whole wheat or sourdough. I love peanut butter and bread snacks. I also make a whole-wheat pasta or cavatelli.

Basically I try to eat a balanced diet. 3 servings of protein, 4 servings of fruit, 4 servings of veggies, 3 servings of grain, 2 serving of dairy, 1 bottle of red wine (no I mean glass).

I do get cravings for a nice steak from time to time but when I do eat red meat, I limit it to 6 oz.

Call me strange but it works for me.

Re: How many people are into Organic Foods? [Tri-Suzie] [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm about 3/4 organic. My fav grains are quinoa, kamut & spelt. Wheat is so out of style. Organic kiwis, bananas, apples and oranges. Carrots, broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, eggplant. etc. Yogurt, soymilk, PB. blah blah

I haven't converted for things like canned beans or canned tomato paste yet. C$1.79 for a can of tomato paste is flippin' pricey I say!

I end up paying 2x - 3x the cost of non-organic. It hurts the wallet, but I just tell myself that's how much it bloody costs to grow food properly!

I have to say, things like tomatoes, peppers and apples taste WAY better organic! The portions are way more sensible too.

If you're gonna eat just 1 thing organic, eat strawberries. Non-organic strawberries absorb the most pesticides of any fruit/veggie.

Now watch me get spanked on my 1st tri this summer by all you non-organic produce masticators! I'm gonna get rocked on the swim I tell you! ...so many years of avoiding the pool to catch up on..

It depends, only if it is a mercy killing, like if the chiken has cancer or something that would have led to a premature death anyway.

What i wanna know is what about beer. Aww hell, it's gotta be organic. IN that case, i think i'll go back to my communal celebration of underage organic lbeverage consumption that is currently going on in my room. Hey, it's friday night, i don't discriminate, all you vegans, heathens, libertarians, whatever...have another drink on me, it don't cost nothin

I'm pretty close to vegetarian. No meat, seafood less than once a month, eggs less than once a month, no milk products.

I drink soy milk. When in UK, it's generally Provamel and soGood, here in Japan, I can't tell you the brand name since I don't have kanji support on this PC!

Whereever possible, including restaurants, I eat organic.

Snack food - organic cereal bars, onigari (Rice balls with seaweed), coffee.

I've been eating like this for 12-15 years (forget exactly when I started).
