IM Austria or IM Switzerland 2010 Can't Post

I'm considering either IM Austria or IM Switzerland for 2010 and would like to get some info about the courses and the events from people who has done the races. It looks like the bike course are pretty similar in terms of climbing metres? Which one has the biggest starting field? How fast will they sell out?

I'm sitting in Klagenfurt right now waiting for the start.

I drove the bike course today. I did Switzerland a couple years ago. Switzerland has a climb that is about 10 miles long. You got to do it 3 times. Austria has one that looks to be 2 miles long. You only have to do it twice. Austria is supposed to be one of the fastest IMs. That is due to the descending on the bike. You get the climbing over relatively quickly and then you get nice long descents.

In both races the run is really flat.

Austria sold out in 90 minutes last year. When I did Switzerland in '06, it did not sell out for a few weeks.

Thanks for the information, it looks like I have to decide within a few days if I will go for Austria or not. Good luck in the race!

The previous post was inaccurate, as the bike course changed to a two-lap affair last year, and I would say it a good, if not great, bike course. I am doing it for the second year next week, and would love to sign up next year as it is moving to the first week in August, which gives the Northern Hemisphere folks a bit more time to prepere in reasonable weather. Otherwise, they will both sell out very quickly with Austria most likely super quick, so you should try to decide asap. Zurich is a great town to visit, the lake is amazing and there are good coffees shops & resturants, and a great bike shop that is as good as they come not far from the race site.

IM Switzerland
70.3 Austria, UK, and Monaco
Xterra Italy, Germany, UK and hopefully Maui
Kona.......or IM Western Australia...

Yes, and I'm in for IM Austria 2010! I was prepared and logged in as soon as the registration was available. Anyone else who's in for Austria?

Both my husband and I are in. Registration online opened earlier than they said it would....I got in around 5:45 (11:45pm Austria)....learned a lesson though....when we tried to pay for my husband the cc got flagged as fraud and we had to scramble to use another.....called citibank and was told with the high incidence of internet cc fraud if a card goes through and then moments later it tries to put another large ($601 wow) amount through using the same sight fraud is alerted.
Crazy how fast that puppy sold out!
