I saw the light.... Can't Post

Ever since trying SRAM Double Tap for the first time I've been sold. I thought nothing would make me waver away from the SRAM Camp. Today at the shop (Get a Grip Cycles, at the Irving Park shop) I saw something, something that may make me change my mind based on looks alone.

Campy Super Record 11.

I'm terribly impressed with 11 speeds, 9 seemed fine, 10 seems fine as well. But the shape of the levers (the hoods are of a little concern for me) was great, and the rear derailleur almost looks like the Lightweight one....very sexy. Not to mention the nearly-$200 chain tool!

The photos suck because I took them with my phone, but wow.

www.competitivecyclist.com has some info on it. Along with a $3270 price tag for the gruppo!!

It'd be almost worth that kind of jack just to be able to say "mine goes to eleven."

I was so sure that this thread would be about Powercranks.

I was sure also. Alas, no. But, I can see why he is so excited. Campy makes absolutely zero power improvement claims for that $3200. That is the kind of marketing that impresses him.

You mean the kind that ISN'T jammed down my throat? Then again, I'm not impressed by the marketing, rather the aesthetics. Read my OP again: "based on looks alone".

And power improvement claims? Does ANY gruppo make power improvement claims? SRAM? Shimano? Campy? Not that I know of, but maybe I'm wrong.

If you read my post, you'll see that I am impressed with the looks, not the function. And you'll also note that the gruppo is still at the shop...too rich for my blood.

Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven

Campy makes absolutely zero power improvement claims for that $3200.

But anyone can make a power improvement CLAIM, right?
