Indoor trainer + sweating Can't Post

So as the cold whether approaches many of us, we begin to start breaking out our dusty trainers.

Those things make me sweat so much. Now I'm 5'8 and 120lb, I don't need to lose weight (because I sweat more on that that I do while doing any exercise). What are some ways of not breaking a sweat after 10 minutes?

uhh..not getting on the thing? a fan? someone posted some bitchin' industrial fan a while back. It looks like it would keep the surface of the sun cool..

More practically keep on top of your fluids. If you are sweating heavily and losing weight then you are probably not keeping enough fluid coming in.
I find that trainer time helps me set that base 'feel' for how much water/fuel I need to take in and then adjust as to outdoor climate conditions.

I drink a lot. If not, my XC coach would say something along the lines of "If you don't hydrate then you can't run."

Hydration I don't believe would be too much of the problem, but it's possible. Does a fan help that much?

I've lost upwards up to 5lbs after very difficult trainer sessions. Similar sessions Ive been agressive with my fluid/fuel intake Ive lost alot less. Losing almost none.

If you can, crack open a window and position the fan so it is blowing the cool air over you.

A fan makes the a huge difference

Do you really need people to tell you to, turn down the heat, turn on a fan or open a window? You cold just ride outdoors? I mean really do you think there is some magic option that you haven't figured yet?

Some people have different ways of doing things, so yes there might be a different way that I haven't thought of.

If it was warm enough outside for me to actually need AC instead of heat, that's just where I'd be out riding instead of indoors on a trainer.

There are plenty of exceptions, but generally speaking. As far as the original question, I just open all of the windows down in the basement where I ride and flood the room with freezing air from outside, then set up my fans, I use two now but could use a 3rd, and still sweat of course. Trainer mat definitely required.

I position one of those fans so it hits your back. Getting heat off your back is just as important as getting heat off your face and front. I would think it is more important than cooling your legs, since your legs are already moving through air.

lots of fans!

if it is cold outside, it's sometimes nice to open a window (but this could leave your house cold afterwards)

and keep plenty of water on hand.
