Poor Jennifer Lopez. The new mom is training for a triathlon, but everyone is too busy watching the Olympics to notice.
Lopez, who appeared on "Good Morning America" Aug. 18 to discuss her preparations for the Malibu Triathlon, was overheard saying after the segment that she “couldn’t understand why everyone is talking about that swimmer,” according to a GMA source. “She couldn’t come up with (eight-time gold-medal winner Michael) Phelps’ name, and then she yammered on about how she was the one training for a triathlon just six months after giving birth, and how that was the big story right now, not ‘the swimmer.’ ”
Lopez is planning on donating money raised for her race to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. To help drum up attention, she started a blog to share tips on training. “Touch up makeup prior to your run” hasn’t made its way into any posts, despite Lopez being spotted arriving in Central Park with her makeup artist later in the day.

Oh no she didn't!

Her comment is true though. No one has ever come back from pregnancy to compete in an athletic event. Especially a sprint triathlon.

I remember thinking when I heard this months ago how it would be such great promo for an up and coming race to have her commit to their event. Then I really thought about the logistic nightmare it has got to be. Security, bodyguards (will they swim with her?), maybe she'll have her own swim wave, you know some whacko is going to draft off her just to ride behind her, and will she have a Lance-like entourage with her during the run? I really can't wait to see the outcome of this.....just for the People Magazine effect. If anything does come out of it, there may be alot of women who will get introduced to the sport.

shes just jealous her fat ass isnt getting press anymore.

michael phelps really did something great for swimming. pp. used to think swimming was a joke when i was in highschool. not only has he brought coverage and respect to the sport, hes attracting a lot more ppl to join. more people= more competition and faster times.

I think everyone's always respected swimming, it's just that swimmers are such dweebs in high school, b/n having fried hair and always being bleary eyed from 5am practice, they had no chance of being cool. :P

dang, im jealous. that big ol booty of hers will give her an unfair advantage in the swim. It will be like swimming with a pull buoy. Imagine if it is a wetsuit legal swim. I bet she will beat everybody out of the water with the buoy wrapped in a wetsuit

She might not even have to do that. I know there used to be a blind athlete who raced the L.A. Tri and Malibu - and alot of the CAF athletes show up as well - so perhaps she'll learn a thing or two. I mean, I commend her for getting into training after giving birth - but she should know it isn't THAT unique (I remember back in '95 or '96 I did a sprint race in Southern Wisconsin that I believe was won by a woman who gave birth only a few weeks earlier).

Predictions on the L-Jo Triathlon:

1. 14 TMZ paparazzi drown while trying to get shots of her on the swim. Two are saved by clinging to her giant neoprene clad ass for dear life in the mailay of the start.
2. Her lawyers are waiting for her in T1 asking if anyone gave her a "porn slap" and checking for applicable case law.

3. She busts a tooth on her Pelligrino glass water bottle on the bike.
