Options/Solutions for Pronator ...
Can't Post
I am [as the title suggests] a pronator ... i.e., I run on the inside soles of my feet. What are my best options to run without discomfort? As my running distances are getting to 10 miles and more, my feet and toes go numb and tingly sometimes.
Is this something that is common? What is the best rememdy? Insoles? Stabilizing shoes? All of the above?
Thanks in advance for responses. RyanB.

TT,
I would start with a visit to a good podiatrist who is also a runner. The best advice will come from a pro who is looking at your feet. Two years of shin splints are gone after an exam and some custom molded orthotics. Best money I have ever spent.

Nice to see you posting - thought you'd died or something.
What kind of shoes are you using now? You'll probably need motion control shoes. I can't disagree that seeing a podiatrists is a good idea, but I simply went to a good running store where thet watched me run and suggested some shoes based on that... worked out pretty well. I went from a neutral Nike Air Pegasus to a good motion control Brooks Adrenaline GTS which really helped my long runs.

Naw ... just got rid of the internet at home (cable TV too). Spending too much time online. If I die, I'll be sure to make a post about it. =)
I was using some Adidas shoes which had narrow soles, so I went to an Asics shoe that had wider, thicker soles. There's Naperville running company within an hour ... they watch you run and match you up to a shoe that fits your gait (if that's what it is called).

I actually miss the discussion here. I don't have time to read, let alone post, in all of the longer threads ... and the Becca stuff was uninteresting ... but I still read the training stuff ... especially anything with "How to reduce swim/bike/run time" in the title.
My internet time is being replaced with "earning my master's degree in administration" and becoming a new father. The Master's program shot my goal of a new bike down, but some things are more important than others.
It's nice to check in again.

There are planty of places in Chicago proper as well (Vertel's, Fleet Feet) you could hit before or after the bike show.

Lots of good info here to study up on. But after, go to a running specialty store.
