Renewed respect for ITU Oly
Can't Post
OK I've done some sprint/oly/long course races and worked up to an Ironman. I thought Ironman was the ultimate in Tri. But after having watched some of the ITU races on video.google.com and then the Olympic Tri... WOW, the ITU racers and races absolutely kick butt!!! WAY more exciting than any Ironman I've seen.

... mainly because I lurk around slowtwitch too much...

I am in no way putting down any of their athletic abilities, but I found the triathlon races at the Olympics pretty boring with the exception of the last 500 meters of the guys race. They all swam together as a group, then all just rode together as a group and it came down in both races to who is the fastest runner. Snowsill made the girls race pretty uneventful by running away from everyone. I am sure some ITU races play out differently but it really didn't look like much of a race until they hit the run.

OK I DO think that road bike racing can be boring too with a pack riding for 200K then a final breakaway. It seems more a chess match than race. However I do enjoy watching cyclocross.
