Skaneateles Race Weekend?
Can't Post
Anyone racing in Skaneateles Labor Day weekend? Anyone race there in the past?
I am racing the sprint on Saturday, the escape from the Judge thing on Sunday and maybe the road race. Will be my first ever sprint and first ever open water swim race. Have to skip the uphill TT as it is the same time as the splash dash kids race.
Anyone ever race the sprint? Specifically was wondering about the bike loop. I know that there is a decent hill right out of town on west lake but have no clue as to the rest of it.

Good well run local race. Can't comment on the bike loop other than that it's hilly as I raced it the first two years it was held and there were two different courses for the bike. It's a beautiful open water swim, one of the cleanest lakes around. Watch for the fishies and good luck.

I'd call it "frequent hills but none particularly steep or long". Several turns of 90 degrees but volunteers at each one & only one on a downhill of significance I can recall (the last turn back onto W Lake Rd - which I'd also call the only turn where you'll break significantly).
Fun race, nice town, good race organization.

My wife and i will be racing as well. My wife raced last year while i rode around the lake. As mentioned before, it has hills but nothing too bad. The entire weekend is a blast with a 5k and a 1 mile open water swim to add to the fun. Good race good weekend.

Thanks for the info. I am looking forward to it although I will admit that I have had zero motivation to train since LP. My wife is doing the tri, her first race ever. Should be fun. My wife is from Skaneateles and we always seem to have a good time there, the racing is just a bonus.

Ha! Thats funny, im in the same place as you. I havent done much of anything since my Vineman DNF so i dont expect much. Im not man enough to offer a smackdown but maybe we can have some fun and put our wifes against each other and bet on them like race horses(jk)?
My wife is from Cortland so we also have a local connection.

Wife smackdown/bet/whatever seems like a dangerous plan. I have a red Kuota with 808's and will be racing in an endurancenation kit, always like to meet other STers.

Hey Chris it's Bryan. I know that town well, I have family there and I am around the area pretty much all Fall since I do a lot of my work in that area. Anyway, I am not doing the race, but I hear that it's a great one and sorry that I am missing it. My friend and sometimes training buddy Matt Migonis I think will be doing it this year. He is the local stud in the area and he has his sights set on that race, so I am just giving you a heads up on some of the competition:) Hope everything has gone well for ya since IMLP and maybe I'll see you around the roads of Skinny-at-Last sometime. Go to Kabuki, it's some of the best sushi ever, I love that place!!!

Bryan,
Too bad you wont be around that weekend, but at least there will be one less person to beat me ;-) I think that Kabuki is great also. My brother in law is a big fan of the sake bombs there so a trip down town usually involves at least a brief visit. If I am riding in the area and see a blur go by me I will assume that it was you...
