Thank You Alison - The Reality
Can't Post
Alison,
Thank you Alison for your most recent column. I hear what you are saying. The reality of most people lives, who work and who have kids is a unrelenting daily treadmill of scheduled and unscheduled events that live little time for anything else and that by 9 - 10 o-clock at night send you directly into bed feeling like you have trained for several hours, when in fact you have done nothing athletic all day.
My hats off to the super-people out there who seem to be able to do-it-all. I really am in awe of you.
When my son was born in 1997, in my heart I knew that, that would be it for me training and racing at the level that I had been at for a number of years. I walked away from it and I have no regrets. Family time and work time are key for me right now and will be for a number of years. Looking back I am lucky and grateful for having the time to do what I did for a number of years and where it took me.
The keys to doing-it-all are the old cliche's of having balance and having a schedule and trying to stick to the schedule as best as one can.

HI Stephen,
Thanks for the note. It is always nice to get some feedback. No, I don't feel like one of the `super' people. As you know, once you have children and you begin the juggling act, often more days than not there are more balls on the floor than in the air!
Today was a perfect escape ride day outside of T.O. It was a dry road take your summer bike out sort of day. I was at work and the forecast is for rain tomorrow. Oh well, bring on spring.
Thanks again,
Alison
