Dude Shawn and I had 15min to count all the bikes

we didn't get all the details!

But I'll say roughly 30 29ers and about 75-80 hard tail

really overwhelmingly FS.

75-80 HT??? BOOYA!

I'm sorry, I keep pushing HT purism.... but that's pretty sweet, thanks for the bike count. Too bad I wasn't able to make it out there, otherwise you would have had 1 under the "WTF?" category.

Go Niner! Up to 10. Last year I think it was 2.

Pretty soon they will conquer the world!

I'm pretty sure there were more Gary Fisher 29ers than Niners.

I have no idea. Didn't even think to look. Like Ian said, we only had about 15-20mins to get all the bikes counted...he started at one end and I at the other. The 29ers were a little more obvious, but we're only going off memory. I think if we do it again next year, we'll try to denote 29ers, HTs, etc.

Re: Xterra Maui Bike count... [cidewar] [In reply to] Can't Post

pathetic, absolutely pathetic, i mean you guys didn't even do a count of who was riding steep, pedal brands, forks, camelback, no camelback, foam grips, slime/stans/other... c'mon guys step it up=) Very cool though, I've never seen a bike count from Maui before. I hope you didn't count the crazy bikes there such as my buddy who's done it a couple of times on a POS hardtail with dual crown fork and that type of bike could really throw off a count...

I would sure love to see how heavy that C-dale Flash was.

Thanks guys, very cool.

Ian and I, both bike geeks, had a few bikes on the list we've never heard of. Couple of interesting things I remember about the count...there were 4 Haro and 1 Schwinn Homegrown.

awesome, thanks for the effort. i guess it's pretty hectic, getting all the details of so many bikes

carina wasle was probably riding a Steinbach bike. small Austrian brand that sells taiwan frames (token) under their label

Re: Xterra Maui Bike count... [ShawnF] [In reply to] Can't Post

friend of mine came out of mtn bike racing retiremeant and came blowing by me at a race on his pristine jet black homegrown hardtail. This was before I knew him and I couldn't figure out 1) who the guy was, 2) how in the world he was on such a pristine and new looking bike that hadn't been made in a number of years

I wonder if any bikes ever suffer any serious frame damage on the course. My Intense Spyder has a serious souvenier dent right near the BB from what must have been a rock that was thrown up by my front wheel. On the plunge stuff nails you pretty hard sometimes especially if you catch some air over those little drops...

I saw a guy in transition that had a rigid 29'r, I was looking to see if anyone was packing a single speed but did not see one. There were a lot of Maxxis tires out there being used.
