Zoot Shoes
Can't Post
Does anyone have experience with the Zoot Ultra Tempo or TT shoes. I appreciate that the Tempo is supposed to provide slightly more support than the TT, but for someone who is a very slight over protonator, I doubt there will be a huge difference.
Any feedback is helpful.
Thanks

I too was "told" I was a slight over pronator. I used to run in the TT. I tried the Ultra and found I liked it better. Run many miles in it without issue.

I'm more than a slight over-pronator ("moderate") and the Tempo's an okay shoe for me, not for long distances, but it's in the rotation with New Balance 903 and Mizuno Wave Inspire (it's the speed and race shoe, 903 is the mid-distance, Mizuno for longer runs). I had to do a bit of surgery on the sock liner because it was rubbing in an odd spot, but other than that I'm happy with them.

Thanks guys -- I actually ordered the Tempos today, hopefully they'll work out well for me also.

I have a pair of Tempo's and like them. Light with a little bit of stability. The sockless thing takes a bit of getting used to if you're not experienced with running without socks. Find whatever hotspots (if any) you might have when your feet start sweating and just put some Body Glide on the area of your shoe and/or foot. My only hotspot was my left heel.
I wouldn't run anything more than a 10K in them though.

I have run many halfs and a full Ironman in them. My feet are now stronger.

You're a better man than me. I would need surgery if I ran more than a 10K in those shoes. That's just me.

I am a "slight overpronator" and run in Tempo +2.0 and ran in Tempo + first gen.
I really loved the first shoe as it was a tighter fit for me, no sloppiness in the forefoot area. Little issues with blisters on long runs sockless, but skin got used to it. Support was dead on for me.
The new 2.0 is wider in forefoot area and it feels a little sloppier for me. Inner material on top is nicer, no blisters during any long runs or races. They have less support. For some reason these shoes "tear me up" after use during long runs. My calves get sore and I take longer to recover. Daily trainer is Mizuno Inspire 4 and open distance race shoe is Fastwitch 3.
Not a big fan of 2.0 version and will try Kona S for next year.

Hi, I`ve a Ultra Tempo + 2.0 and I love it. I've done a half and 3 olympic (without socks) and I was very pleased. They are very comfortable and very light.

I have the Zoot Ultra Race shoes and I love them...I normally wear asics with arch supports in them. When I wear the zoots (only up to half distances), I never have any pain. They fit like a glove to me and, with sprints and olympic races, I don't wear socks with them. I was skeptical of them at first, so I got last year's model on ebay for about 38 bucks...best 38 dollar pair of running shoes I've ever bought. My husband is now going to start wearing ones but we aren't sure what he should get because he is a marathoner--any suggestions for him? He normally wears Mizunos.

I had the tempos and raced one half with them. I only broke them in with 10 miles of running before. Not smart at all, I have wide feet and I am used to 2140's. I had blisters on the my toes and heels of both feet. Did not work for me. Think they are better for narrow feet.

Would be interested to hear about durability. I've had pair of Ultras for just over 200kms and already the 'carbon' in the midsole is disappearing and breaking off.
By all means have a plan, but the best plan is to have a plan to change the plan.

mine are pretty good no major issues with the shoes at all, i had to modify them slightly because of my braces, but a few sprints and 3 halfs. ( both my ankles are partially fused)

Not durable in my case at all. Outsole wore in the outer heel area all the way to show midsole in less than 200mi.

I put roughly 24 miles total on mine and when I did send back to Road runner (great return policy) I noticed more then normal wear from 24 miles on the back outer heel also. I am a heavy heal striking runner but I am working on that. I did buy a pr. of NB 501 or 504? The yellow ones from road runner after sending back the zoots. I liked them for wide feet and think they were around 10.5 ounces. They are wearing fast also but fit me great.

Same here, welcome to supination. However, I can't go back to a heavier shoe, my quads just can't take it. I love my zoots, even if I have to buy a new pair every 5 weeks or 200 miles.
