bike computer on rear wheel on trainer? Can't Post

Any reason that I can't (shouldn't) put my basic bike computer on my rear wheel while on my KK trainer? I rigged it up this morning and the wire fits/reads.

I figure speed as well as perceived effort might be another aspect for motivation while logging in time this winter.

Anyone else do this?

Thanks for your input.

The sensor generally has to be within a certain distance from the computer itself...mine is like 20". Kinda tough to read if your computer is on the back of your bike.

I ended up switching to a Cateye Double Wireless which solved the problem.

Is that only for wireless computers? Are the distance parameters for wired computers as well?

The particular computer on my road bike is a few years old and wired so I'm not having any issues with it reading so far (only spinning it with my hand though, haven't rode it yet though).

I have an old computer that I throw on my bike every winter. IT's literally strapped to my bike using cardboard and electrical tape. It's "mounted" on my top tube, which means it gets poured on with sweat, but who cares. I don't know how accurate it is, but it does give me a target to shoot for when I ride along with HR.

It will work fine (as you've seen), the data is accurate, and you have nothing to worry about.
