clearlake,california Can't Post

hey guys looking for info. on clearlake, california or the surrounding area. wife might be taking a job in oakland and we can live about 100 miles or so away(pilot.)...looks like a nice area for training, questions i have are...races in the area? cost of living?(i always hear how high ca. is) ....trails? skiing? cycling? lake swimming? pools?..also anywhere else outside of oakland that would be a good fit for 2 triathletes with no kids...

thanks,
j

if you like Meth, clearlake will be sweet.

What Ironwolf said.

You'd be much happier out in Contra Costa County (Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill/Lafayette) or the 680 corridor (Alamo/Danville/San Ramon) or even out in Livermore/Pleasanton. Lots of STers out there a fantastic outdoor pools and riding and running. You'd have Mt. Diablo and a couple of tri clubs and lots of cycling teams. The one downside is that it's a good hour plus to the velodrome. ha

While I agree with CLM that the Walnut Creek area is fantastic for all of the activities you mentioned (I live here), you mentioned the cost of housing in your original post. It can be VERY expensive to live here. A 1100 SF house can run well over $500,000. However, with BART (train) right here, geting to Oakland is very easy.

If an hour away works for you, look at the Windsor Area just orth of Santa Rosa. Great riding, good pools not too far away, In the heart of wine country, open water swiming at lake Sonoma. Skiing will be about 3 hours away. The Vineman Triathlon is right there in town too.

Good Luck.
