A house divided cannot stand! It is still a toss up as to how long this thread will stay here. But we might as well go for broke and see. We are all in the same boat, so you might as well enjoy. I do realize that his will eventually come to the point of beating a dead horse, so I won't beat around eh bush any longer.

Why is it that some triathletes who know they can't cut the mustard insist on doing an Ironman? I mean seriously how many times can a person put themselves through such trauma only to come close with no cigar. I guess close does only count in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Ya, stupid triathletes always grabbing for the brass ring, or trying to hit a hole in one...

grabbing for a brass ring or trying to hit a hole in one is fine. However, a picture paints a thousand words and watching some triathletes it is very clear that some of them are biting off more than they can realistically chew. I see we differ on this, maybe someone will step in to be the devil's advocate.

It's not about the bike, it's just along for the ride.

who says they can't? have you walked one step in their shoes? and the use of the word triathlete is disturbing, restrictive, and belittling imo. human is better.

You've really got your head in the clouds now, you must be higher than a kite. I guess it takes one to know one, but at least I do not live on cloud 9, that is my silver lining....

is quite possibly the stupidest euphemism out there.

Wrong! "Git'R Done" IS the worst. It's equivalent to uttering "I'm a f#&king moron."

Since we're on pet peeves, the 'ole car/furniture dealer standby .... "we have more than 13 to choose from."
So you have 14? Or is it 256? My guess is it's 14.

HTFU and BAMF are pretty bad. I rank them behind chicks who scream "OMG!" at parties.

could it be that it's not about branding myself into a corner, like say being a triathlete? i'm not one and i'll never claim to be one.

even when i finally finish an ironman, i'll never claim to be anything other than me.

I refuse to accept what any .com has to say about grammar.
I'm with you. I'd don't care what they say, "gotten" should be banished. Most often people simply want got. I don't think anyone's mentioned it here yet - how about "atha-lete" and "tri-athla-lon". As for expressions, "not gonna lie" has got to go.

I just readed this thread for the first time. I want to say I'm speechless, but if I did, then I wouldn't be.
