2023 NFL Draft
First pick goes at 8pm tonight.

Pittsburgh just invested in a QB of the future, now’s the time to shore up the offensive line and keep him off the IR list. Although CB/S is high on our needs list and there’s a legacy pick available at CB in Joey Porter, Jr. I suspect we’ll see a monster OT or Porter taken in round one.

Who’s your squad coming home with?

Hopefully the Chiefs trade up to take WR Zay Flowers of Boston College. Mahomes invited Flowers to the group camp in Texas for the day yesterday. After that, fill in on defense and O-line.

I'm not sure if I still qualify as a Raiders fan as I've kind of lost track of them after the move to Vegas. But I assume they will fuck it up, most likely on some new and novel way that no one thought possible before.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Its crazy to think the texans are not going to draft a QB. I think Mel Kiper has bryce young graded at like a 96, stroud at 94, levis/richardson at 91.

2022 - no QBs were ranked higher than 94
2021 - Only Lawrence
2020 - Burrow 94
1999 - none
1998 - sam darnold 94
1997 - none (watson was a 88)
1996 - wentz was a 91 same with Goff

So essentially, Young would be the 2nd highest rated QB in the last 7 years. MOST years Stroud would be a clear cut #1 pick. Seems like they are overthinking things to draft essentially Jadeveon Clowney.

It’s crazy how highly valued edge rushers are now in the NFL. But if you look at TJ Watt’s numbers, his impact is undeniable. Keeping in mind they’ve never had a losing season during his career, they’re 1-10 when he’s injured, and the defensive stats differential tells the same story. Sacks, pressures, turnovers, etc. He’s a one man game changer.

The guy I’m most interested in is the Kentucky QB. He’s projected for Indianapolis, but I think he’s got bust potential all day long.

The fans in Houston are going to lose their minds if the Texans don’t take a QB with the #2 pick. The team sucks at many positions but especially at QB.

I’d take Stroud over Young. Young’s size is going to be an issue.

I completely understand not taking a QB in most years. But it seems like this bunch of QBs is worth taking a shot on.

I think next years top 2 QBS are rated higher than stroud. But its insane to try to actively get a top 2 pick - multiple years in a row.

if they really wanted one of the top 2 QBs next year, they should trade both of their 1st round picks for something like a second this year + a teams next years first. That way they would have 4 first rounders next year + minimal draft improvement.

If you are going to be horrible with a plan that is fine. Just dont be bad.

If they dont draft a QB, the only thing that would make sense to me would be if they signed lamar jackson to an offsheet. Get two players this year who can help you + sign jackson, with the thought being that you are going to be drafting at the end of the draft for the next two years while having Cleveland's picks.

Seahawks: 2 first round picks (5 & 20) and 2 second round picks (37 & 52).

I don't follow the offseason for Seattle much at all any more. But with that bucket full of high picks they better come away a solid playoff contender.

Young is going #1. Stroud wont go in the top 10.

PLEASE Can Will Anderson fall to 6? Tyree Wilson's foot injury seems to be bad, and he is quickly falling down the draft boards.

Lions better not draft a QB or CB in the first round.

I just looked and wtf.

First round CB and WR.........WFT indeed. Looks like Seattle decided to ride or die with Geno Smith.

Steelers picked up a much needed beast of a lineman to protect our new (hopefully) franchise QB, trading up two spots to secure him. We’ve got the first pick of round two, likely a CB. It’s been a good while since we’ve had an all pro caliber ball hawk in the backfield not named Minkah.

I see Joey Porter has not gone yet. I watched his play at PSU fairly closely and I could never square what I was seeing with the hype that all the broadcast analysts were giving him. If the Black and Gold pick him yet, count me as guardedly pessimistic about his prospects.

That would have been better than the Jamarcus Russell pick.

Somehow they didn't waste another first round pick on a mediocre QB. And took the best guy available. I'm confused now. That isn't how this usually works.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Hype = remember his dad, let's hope he's as good.

I never have followed the draft in the past. However, I turned it on just to see how KC did in hosting the event.

Great job by KC, it is a great sports town. I miss spending more time there.

Jalen Carter reminds me of Albert Haynesworth. Tons of talent but once he got his money he punched his ticket to easytown. This kid thought so highly of himself that he showed up to his pro day overweight and had to be pulled off drills. Hopefully his draft slide is a wake up call.

After my morning coffee I like Witherspoon better. Teams were starting to avoid Woolen late in the season last year because of all his picks. Now they'll have to pick their poison. And you have to be a good CB to impress Pete Carroll.

After having this morning to think about Seattle's picks and Pete Carrol's history with Seattle, I am pretty comfortable with the picks. I think the Geno Smith signing still has me questioning Seattle's way ahead, I still think GS over-achieved last year and would love to be proved wrong.

I doubt it was a wake up call, but I think it will help him going to the Eagles and playing alongside some of his former Georgia teammates. Also the Eagles have the luxury of being able to use him as a situational defender, so they have less concerns about him running out of gas. Other teams would've wanted him playing every down and he has never been that type of player so far.

To some experts, <cough, Mel Kiper, cough> , this kid is the best player in the draft. He should be playing every down. I think he landed in a good spot with the Eagles as he has some GA teammates and doesn't need to start right away. But for his talent he should be playing just about every down.

Me too. Did you see anything about why he wasn’t down at Union Station last night?

I live in the KC metro and traffic all over town has been a mess all week. Lots of schools closed because the busses can’t make their full route. I’m watching from my sofa but it’s great to see how many people are downtown. For anyone that has future travel plans to KC, thr WW1 museum should be on your “must visit” list.

I read where they only invited 17 players. But I heard that he and Deuce Vaughn were down there walking around earlier in the day and nobody knew who he was.

I thought about flying in for the weekend and going, but then the person I would’ve been going with ended up having surgery on her foot and spending the weekend on the couch watching. Kansas City looks good though.

Steelers draft grade so far, solid A.

1. OT Broderick Jones
2. CB Joey Porter Jr.
3. DT Keeanu Benton
4. TE Darnell Washington

I see the KY QB went to Tennessee. Is that a statement about last year’s QB pick Willis?

Everyone hated that pic last year of Malik Willis. And then Tannehill got hurt and Willis had to play way too soon and did not do a good job so the Titans ended up getting Josh Dobbs off the Lions practice squad. It was a huge mess.

I seem to be the only Eagles fan not super excited about this draft.
We drafted 2 defenders from Georgia last year, got almost nothing out of them. Yeah, it's only 1 year, I know. And it's not like I break down tape or anything, but it sure seems like Georgia defensive players are getting overdrafted - a lot of teams are doing it, but we've got 5 of them now.

I agree with you about the impact it had. It was huge and very likely changed the future of two (or three) franchises dramatically. Texans would have probably taken Young and then not made the trade to get the #3 pick and get Anderson.

Since this bubbled up.

After the Lions Draft last year, I have officially sworn off any mock draft, or pre-draft discussions. Probably will watch (maybe but it is in Detroit) and I will not question whomever the Lions pick or whatever moves they make.

God its great to finally have a competent NFL organization in town.
