Descendents, "9th & Walnut".

It's a pop punk kinda night - 55 degrees before work, walked the dogs in a hoodie and shorts. Now, 6 hours later at work, 30 degrees and heavy snow.

There was a lot of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire listened to while wimsey jr and I were driving around doing stuff today. We both enjoy that one in the series a lot.

We interspersed it with some Billy Idol and Queen too.

Goblet of fire is my favorite as well.

Stick Figure radio is my go-to lately at work and in the car. Getting ready for the warmer weather.

I’m listening to musical noises, although the notes are not music. Someone in my house is playing D&D online, and so I hear the drama unfold. That’s amusing. My son is hooting from time to time at his friends as he plays a different online game in his room. I have heard the smoke detector go off, too. Initially I thought someone else was cooking. But I have been informed, now, that the beets I was cooking caused the smoke detector to make noise, repeatedly. My bad! I forgot about them.

I had a delicious salad with goat cheese and kale and little tomatoes. Goat cheese is so good! I intended to put the beets in the salad, but I didn’t. It’s rainy and pretty mellow here.

Lead track from Luxury's new album dropped a week ago. Getting my hopes up that it will be even better than their last.

Two very different tracks on tap tonight. An obscure classic from the early '90s, and a brand new release.

My compliments on a cracking start to the thread.

Last night for me was trawling live Thin Lizzy clips on youtube.

And then sending links to a visiting Canadian friend, whom I took to an Irish pub to hear a band play last Sunday evening.

I'm hoping to convince her that Thin Lizzy might inhabit that limited space in the Venn diagram of our musical tastes.

That’s a great lineup. I’ve been listening to them lately. How did they sound live? Curious about Tyler’s set list. You never know what he’s brining to the stage.

I think his live performances of Creeker are the best things I’ve seen on stage i.n a long while.

After talking to a student yesterday who was a Swifty, I decided to give her new album a listen this morning at the gym.

It wasn't so bad. I listened to the first 3 songs or so. Musically just uninteresting pop stuff, but I have to say I did like the vibe and the lyrics were OK. If I was a teenage or twenty something girl I could see the appeal.

We played side 1 this morning in bed during our post-school rush recovery. The third song Down Bad is a vibe, maybe a minute longer than I needed but my Swiftie wife seemed satisfied. I’m sure it was me and not the music given the lackluster reviews.

Yeah, that was the last one I listened to in full. Seemed like every song basically had the same or a very similar theme. Isn't she the wrong side of 30 now? Kind of weird to still be singing about break ups and teenage petulance, but it certainly seems to work for her and her fans.

Everything in that thread is related to this thread unfortunately. It’s getting to be an obsession. The Kyuss/QOTSA collection is nearly complete.

I'm absolutely obsessed with his work. Discovering him about 10 years ago changed the entire trajectory of the music I listen to. His live shows are fantastic. I tend to bring him up in most of the music threads here.

Fun fact, if you watch the video for Do One, it was shot at the HOB in Anaheim and my son and I were in the crowd.

That’s really cool, always fun to dig those up and see clips online that you saw live. Thanks for posting this guy, I’d never hear of him otherwise. Good shit.

I’m imagining in my head Frank performing that song (NTYFTM) live with Green Day and it sounds fucking incredible. That would be a great song for them to cover.

Just saw this on twitter:

“Frank Turner officially broke the world record for the most shows live shows played in 24 hours.

He played 15 independent shows across 15 different cities in a 24 hour period on Saturday.”

He's a touring lunatic, in February he'll be playing his 3000th live show. Best live shows I've been to, I think I've seen him 19 times. I'm getting close to groupie status.

Angie McMahon - Light, Dark, Light Again.

Super talented indie Aussie singer songwriter. Got my ticket for show at the Thunderbird in Pittsburgh and don't care if i am the oldest by 20 (or more likely 30) years.

.......and thank you to Thom for letting us know Frank Turner has a new album out. Was a big fan, and have seen him live twice - but have drifted away recently.

And the question remains. where were you.

Just listened to Post Malone's new country song (with Morgan Wallan). I didn't hate it.

I also like his song with Taylor Swift.

I don't know by what metric that qualifies as country.

Meh.

That TS song is growing on me. I do like Down Bad from that album probably more than the rest of it, but I haven't listened to the second part of the double album. Mostly been in my Sturgill collection this week with a healthy sprinkling of Tyler.

Have you listened to Billy the Kid's "Horseshoes and Hand Grenades" album from about 2014 - which Frank produced? Frank sings on "Sure as hell ain't my life"..which is easy to find live on youtube; but i think the whole album is really good. i have a signed hand written lyrics sheet of "The Satellites + 1" on the bookshelf in my study. That Billy is working as a teacher somewhere in the south shows how difficult it is to be a successful musician.

And the question remains. where were you.
