Training plan placebo effect

I thought this was interesting. Maybe not surprising but interesting — apparently there's a placebo effect on training outcomes based on whether or not you believe the training plan was tailored to you:

Small samples so there's that but interesting if true.

Not surprising. I personally believe the psychological aspects when it comes to racing and training are still a relatively untapped resource.

Something we probably already knew but really interesting to see a study confirming it. Looks like 1RM squat went up 6% v 1% for those told it was individualized, even though adherence and expectations were roughly similar. The really standout data point is the muscle thickness increase, ~1mm for "individualized" vs 0mm for control. Keeping in mind the given programs were identical, only the belief in them was different, muscle thickness isn't something you can will into being like a 1RM. Really cool study.
