Triathlon-related art?

Aside from framing race posters, of which I have many in my house, what are some good sources for triathlon wall art? Links appreciated to help with the shopping as I add some color and personality to a guest house. Extra credit if they depict women athletes, not just men.

Cycling: Visuals of Harry Images

Tri: Talbot Cox

Also, don't underestimate how good a wall collage of race numbers can be.

And also just browse through flickr/instagram. If you see an image you like then message the person and ask if you can buy/make a donation to their favourite charity for the image, and then get them to send the file and you can print it at multiple stores (brick or online).

I've seen these paintings of swimmers before and thought they looked pretty cool. On the pricier side though https://www.singulart.com/en/artist/ruben-abstract-8767

It's funny - I don't display any of my own artwork at home. I create it, I post it, then I put it in a folder in the basement

The only artwork I have hanging are those that my grandpop did when he started painting in his 80s

Saw this guy up at 70.3 Maine a few years ago. Bought one of his pieces and have it hanging in my office. He was there and I got to chat with him and take a pic with him too. Real nice guy.

Take a look through his stuff.

I am not affiliated with or receiving any commissions from, but am simply a happy customer. We have 2 paintings / artwork from Alejandro Maldonado.

Thanks!!! As a kid, I aspired to work for MAD Magazine

I make my own "race" bibs too ... which I keep in a collection of binders

You could have some of your own triathlon/sports photos printed on metal, canvas or other surfaces and then hung on a wall. I just sent a few photos from Kona to Canvasdiscount (you upload them onto their site) but they are taking a while so not sure I'd recommend them. There is also Shutterfly and Bay photos who do the same services. I know a couple of professional photographers who use Bay Photos for prints on metal and then sell them. Looks awesome! I love photos on metal.

Also when I was first decorating my Endless Pool room, I ordered two metal photos (not my own photos) from finearamerica. I have this in the largest size hanging on a wall right next to my Endless Pool. It looks so good and I just love it. Not sure if these are Kona swimmers but reminds me of Kona.

I was coming here to suggest Doug as well! (https://www.dugartwork.com/) He is local to me, and a genuinely nice guy. Great cyclist who had a bad crash, then turned to art. Just saw him at the Northampton cross race. Love him!

Thanks for suggesting him!

I forget which of the DeBooms does the artwork (Tim or Tony) but Endurance Conspiracy sells poster prints, besides t-shirts & trucker hats

No kidding, I’m happy to hear that. He does have a unique story and I enjoyed chatting with him quite a bit up in Maine. He had a piece that jumped out at me and I kept going back to to. A bunch of runners’ legs from the knees down in what I envisioned was a lead pack during a race. Bright vibrant colors more in the orange and red spectrum which gave me the feeling of competitive fire…hence why I feel like it’s the lead pack.

I’ve tried to get more into art over the last 8 or so years and I’m definitely not one of those individuals who has felt that images “speak to me.” Yet this piece really sunk its teeth in me and combined with a fun weekend, the ability to meet with the artist and just have a casual chat with him was all I needed. I think my wife noticed also because she encouraged me to buy it.

Anywho, that’s my story with Doug and DUGART. He’s got a lot of cool stuff and a genuinely nice person with a story to boot. He also sends holiday cards!

Please tell him I send my best if you cross paths.

Cheers

I have a lot of Ironman paintings, created live at the race to depict scenes from the course.

Check out the link below to see what I have available.

I definitely recognize scenes from Coeur d’Alene, Wisconsin and (I think) Oceanside 70.3. Thanks for posting!

Print photos on metal — great idea! Not that I have great race photos of myself. Here I am missing a 4-hour marathon by five seconds in a singlet from a club that has ceased to exist.

You've been to Kona right? Maybe some photos you have of the venue and Kona scenery? Or photos of a mass swim start from Dig me beach. Runners in the distance against the Kona sunset? Stuff like that. I had one good bike photo of myself with the lava and ocean in the background. I uploaded that one for a metal print (still waiting) in addition to some scenery photos in Kona and one of me at the finish line where I didn't look horrible :-) I have some beautiful scenery photos from Nice, France from worlds 70.3. And also race related which are cool. Those would look good on metal too. Maybe for the other side of my pain cave with my bike and treadmill. When I did the Philly marathon back in 2012 I somehow ended up with a photo of the mass start from maybe a drone. I think it was part of my race photo package. Something like that would be cool to have printed on metal, canvas, wood or even just printed on paper and framed.

If you've been to Kona (or even if you haven't), Cindy Coats is a local who does great work and she is a really nice person, too. She creates something new for each year's race in Kona:

I saw her booth at the expo this year. Very nice!

Been to Kona twice to race (2011 and 2023) and I volunteered a whole bunch of shifts last year.

I’m really appreciating all these new options, hope the artists are getting lots of views for their work. I may end up going with a black and white over-exposed photo of old-school bikes racked at a local triathlon. Still shopping, though.
