Training in Faro: tips?
hi everyone -

next week I'm heading to quinta do lago, about 5 or 10k from faro proper. i've got 7 days, a rented road bike, some amount of child care, and am keen to get in lots of hours.

happy to hear whatever tips you've got for routes, restaurants, activities, etc!

your bread and butter rides will likely go to almodova and after loule its pretty nice
next door your place is etu cup on march 23rd in quarteira and the female field is stacked
i would try to go to sagres spend a few hours on lagos on why home and then take the train back
trains in portugal are super cheap and the regional ones take bikes.
riding along the coast is a bit anoying but there is a few great spots.
faro itself is actually susurprisingly nice , lagos silves and tavira are the other places worth a visit.

I recently went to a Living in Portugal seminar in Atlanta geared toward Americans looking to move to Portugal. Quinta do Lago had some representatives there. Looks like a cool place. May head there this fall for a week to check it out. Let me know how your experience is.

so in general - try to avoid N125 - it actually has a shoulder is just busy ...
main climb here is Monchique; closer to you is Malhao. Both climbs were included in the February's Volte AO algarve

personally i really like the roads between Lole, salir, benafim, Alte

think once you get from quinta past almancil and loule then its quiet roads everywhere. one thing which i found surprising is a small number of petrol stations - means you better off looking for drinks/ food in small cafes you ll find along the way

i would scour strava especially to find quieter roads to get away from quinta do lago past almancil
