How are you? How did you do on last weekā€™s goals? What are your goals for this week?

Training this coming week is again based on my race-build weekly schedule, with some adjustments for being away for the weekend with family. Also keeping going with the focus on good sleep habits. And I will make some chowders for lunches.

I got sick this week :-( Swam 13k, biked 7hrs, ran 2.5hrs, skipped strength session as was feeling washed out, did 4/4 of my 10min prehab ā€˜sessionsā€™. Didnā€™t feel good at squad run session on Wed, ground through Thu & Fri, knew game was up when I couldnā€™t do a planned run session on Sat. Sun/Mon Iā€™ve been on the sofa. Sleep was good this week and I made chowders.

Now I just need to rest until Iā€™m well again. Iā€™m away overseas visiting my son at uni from Thu-Mon. Hopefully I can get some exercise done before I head off but weā€™ll see. No opportunity to swim/bike while Iā€™m away but Iā€™ll take running shoes with me. Bit frustrated but at least Iā€™ll be well rested post trip and can get back at it.

I'm sorry you've been ill and I hope you feel better soon. Still decent volume for you!

Last weekā€™s goals:
1. 7/7 healthy coping- GREAT SUCCESS w 7/7
2. Hip and shoulder PT as directed - done, mostly- made the mistake of making up exercises on Th I had missed W and that might have contributed to Fri pain. Also had thought it was ok to add lat pull-down and rows on wed, might have also added to Fri pain (which was v unexpected)
3. Follow PT plan for swim and jog - mostly done. Most notably, I paid attention to the pain guidelines and didnā€™t try to swim Sat, which had been in my weekly plan. I could have done a better job Fri and gotten out earlier. I am still working on adhering to pain guidelines when it escalates during a swim (was a problem this morning- stayed in probably 800 yards too long). But I am getting better at not getting in if I am in pain- the ā€œtry itā€ thing that has rarely been okay. The PT is a swim specialist btw - not your run of the mill - former college swimmer, super smart.
4. Journal daily- mostly done
5. Be grateful for what my body can do - I did a better job w this, still a work in progress
6. 2 x 2 min pauses, didnā€™t do at all, goal was daily
7. Stop all the sidestroke and breaststroke kick-
Done
8. Lower volume but more frequent swimming - nope but I responded as I should have by not swimming sat though (or sun, but pools were closed which was a blessing in terms of my not having to fight my ocd)

Week:
m- off
T- 2850 free, 700 kick
W- 3500 free, 1475 kick, a little indoor rock climbing
T- off
F- 3500 free, 1200 kick, volunteered at Special
olympics regional meet!
S - off
S - off

Total 9850 yds of freestyle and 3375 kick (primarily dolphin/flutter)

Goals for this week:
1. 7/7 healthy coping (itā€™s tues and I am 1/1 and I think 14 days in a row?)
2. Journal daily
3. Hip and shoulder PT as directed
4. Swim jog plan as PT directed
5. Be appreciative for what my body can do
6. 2 x 2 min pauses daily
