If you read my OP you will see that I never said that I was replacing my current rack "because" of this issue.
I stated that "I need to replace my current rack" - and since I am replacing my current (old and broken rack) I thought I would ask people's specific experience with an issue I've encountered for the past years before I spend any money so that I make a sensible and cost effective decision.
To everyone else that has provided their input - thanks.
Like 1 above poster said, just spin the bike 180 and clamp the rear wheel

I go to my weekly timetrial with the Kuat clamp over the rear wheel (vs front) at highway speed with no issues.
I had a kuat rack and would just flip the bike 180
For shorter rides but it never sat well with me. For longer rides I would swap out the back wheel.
Someone crashed into that back of my car with my kuat rack and have since replaced it with the 1Up equiped. Solves the problem as is works great with any bike I have. Would highly recommend. I do miss the integrated locks but a worthwhile trade off.
Out of curiosity, what wouldn't you want to deal with?
I strap mine down, takes 5-10 seconds tops
Less time then a normal rack takes
Ahhh you are right. I must have missed the part where you said any of that.
My magic glasses that can read what people don't type are not working correctly I guess..... I'll have to jump in my prius to bring them into the apple store for a tune up while I sip a Frappuccino and sniff my own farts.
(I do feel sorry for anyone who doesn't understand the reference above)
Reading comprehension is difficult for some people so I won't hold it against you.
