Good rides off I95 between NY & FL?
Have been doing this drive fairly often recently for work reasons but haven’t managed to find any good riding in close proximity to the highway. Ideally am looking for something pretty close to I95 so I can essentially pull off, stay at a hotel, then ride in the am before I start driving again. Really anywhere along the length works (have done the drive in as little as a single day and as much as four days). Feels like someone here must have figured out a spot or two?

I live in the Raleigh, NC area and often ride highway 50 to Benson, or highway 210 between Angier and Smithfield.

It's not particularly scenic, but the roads are wide and folks generally give you a lot of room.

Use the updated Strava route thing on the App. You can have it show you routes just like segments explorer does.

The regional TT and road race route is in Wade NC which is like a mile off 95. There is a public park for parking if you wish. Not super scenic, flat, seems safe enough.

I always use Strava to find routes when I traveling. Just open the global heat map, select a sport and look for the brightest lines. Garmin has a similar feature, but I don’t find it as good.

The issue for both is it will show you popular bike ride, but not necessarily good rides for a TT bike. For example, the C&O canal path out of DC (easy access from I-95) is a great ride if you have a gravel bike, but you wouldn’t want to ride a TT bike on it. Similarly the W&OD MUT is very popular. So popular that it isn’t a great trail to put your head down and hammer.

Prince William Forest might be suitable -- just south of DC, has a designated bike lane, rolling hills, and during the week, not very crowded. It's a Nat'l Park Service property, so you need to pay an entrance fee (Nat'l Park passes work, though).

South Carolina: Yemassee exit 33, 38, or 42, and ride down to Beaufort on US 21. Cross over the Smalls Bridge (used in Forrest Gump for his crossing of the Mississippi River), and head down to Hunting Island State Park. Probably a round-trip 80-90 mile ride, with gas stations and towns the whole way. Park at the Yemassee Amtrak Station and bike away.

You won't be disappointed.

The Virginia Capital Trail (https://www.virginiacapitaltrail.org/) starts in Richmond just off of I-95 and goes 52 miles to Williamsburg, VA. It's a fantastic ride.

I'm less than 10 miles to the east of I-95 about 20 miles south of Jacksonville, FL. I can give you a 20+ mile route that is entirely within my master planned community and mostly in bike lanes.

In Philly, I ride and do Intervals around FDR Park right next to the sports stadiums which has Live Casino right there. Boring but mostly safe (1.6 mile loop) but its 10 mins from my house and I can usually do 90 minutes before I lose my mind. Paul the MMA guy does a loop around the Philly airport that is much longer where I think he does his intervals at.

Seconded. This trail is car free, but also doesn't have that many walkers/dogs/kids once you get couple of miles from either end, so you can hammer out fast cycling miles in complete safety.

Regarding the Beaufort area: be sure that there isn't Marine Corps basic training graduation that weekend, or your hotel room choices in Beaufort may be limited. Otherwise, there are lots of hotels in Beaufort and the areas out toward I-95.
