Did anyone else notice that Lisa Becharas rode a 56 minute 40k. That was almost as fast as Jason West. For reference, Jason West rode 9 minutes faster than LCB at Singapore. NUTS!.

As @RowToTri reported, Jason West had a flat on the bike. She was only 3:33 down on the fastest men's bike split of the day. Amazing ride.

Yep -- West got a flat w./ ~5k to go on the bike & decided to ride it in. Went from being 60s down to 3:30 down. Probably wins by around 30s without the flat. Sub-30 is still crazy fast. Tough day too with low-70s temp (low-60s dew point) and strong winds on the way out.

Lisa's ride was insane. She said post race that she hasn't been running much due to injury so wanted to hammer the bike as hard as possible. Lopes must've been upset not to have had the full 1500m swim. She likely gets the win with the full swim.

Seriously quick. What would Knibb have done on that course? "For reference" Becharas was 10+ minutes down on her a month ago (but over 90k not 40).
"For reference" Becharas was <4 minutes slower than Dubrick, with whom she shared the podium top step of course, but 16 minutes down at Oceanside.
Why did Becharas race only once in 2022 and only once in 2023?

She's had several injuries and surgeries over the past few years.

Agreed -- she would've been faster but harder to make up a ton of time over 40k w./ 20+ turns. Becharas raced as if there wasn't a run. She's been dealing with injuries. Think that explains the lack of racing the last 2 years. Knibb outrode Sharpe in Oceanside who had a bad day there. He rode 53:44. Dubrick rode 2:12 @ Oceanside & went 52:42. Think Knibb could've gone 55:xx, maybe 54.
