What an athletic comeback.

Yup.

It's been a long road with a lot of ups and downs for Paula Findlay over the last 8 years! There have been moments, I know that she was really down. But she is looking amazing - BEST I have ever seen her in her whole career!

Ha ha I stuck a fiver on her as well, even though I picked Lawrence. Love fleecing the bookies in Triathlon. Are you in the UK and if so who did you go with?

Skybet, not much profit though unless one of my mens bets come in (Gomez or Jonny Brownlee EW)

Yeh I went skybet too. I've been looking at all sorts of aerodynamic models to see if there is any chance of anyone beating AB and I just can't see it. But his odds were crap.

Is she coached by Paulo? Wish he could still chime in here.

the way the commentators are going on about haug's penalty is a bit frustrating - talking about winning it 'fair and square' etc. c'mon - penalties are penalties. you don't get to magically 'subtract' the penalty time from haug's time in order to find out her 'real' time.

Hoping Barry S is on commentary for the Men’s.

Curious what the finish time delta from 1-25th in the women’s vs men’s will be, to help show the depth of field.

I believe that Barry is calling the shots in the Production Truck - A good move to have SOMEONE with that knowledge helping the Producers behind the scenes. They help the WHOLE of the production be better by focusing on the right things at the right time.

On the second point - the women coming off the bike were VERY close from 5th - 20th! Spread out on the run!

Not to mention COVID. Let’s see how the race does next year.

Really enjoyed the race so far but not sure it is the game changing concept that some of the hype would allude to. Possibly the absence of meaningful long course racing is giving it more of a push. But only halfway through today's racing.

i think in both fields COVID is a weird x-factor. peoples' form is a bit of a mystery, and everyone has handled shutdown differently. some people might have finally recovered well from injury (paula) or decided to dive into something new (like lisa in road cycling). so we might see some unexpected splits or some surprisingly fresh or flat performances...

The thing is on the men's side we probably have a slightly better idea given quite a lot of the guys have been racing, albeit in ITU, Zwift, 5km run races etc. But still hard to know how it all adds up over a non drafting middle distance race.

Paula should never have been sent to the Olympics.

Kevin’s comment about “Simon going to bat for Paula” really rubbed me the wrong way. That’s not what happened, let’s leave that where it was 8 years ago and celebrate the performance of today.

Love her. I'm sure a lot of stress left the building for these two. Eric probably lost a lot of energy cheering her on, lol. Let's see how he does. Really happy for them. And yes, Paula was my pick for female.

Pretty sure in 70.3 and lower he doesn’t.
Full Ironman he does
