Intex Hydro Flow

Has anyone seen the Intex Hydro Flow Swim Trainer? The cost is much less then an Endless pool and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience or thoughts on the system?

I was looking at it and I could get one of their above ground pools and this unit for less then 1/2 what an Endless Pool costs and then I would still need a pool to put it in. Obviously it wont be as good, but will it be good enough for a reasonable swimmer to train with? (1.2 miles in 33-36 min, 2.4 in 64-68 minutes)

It looks like a cool idea, but watch the “quality” of the swimmers in the video.

No mention of how fast it goes.

My big concern is also the no mention of speed or the size of the water stream it creates

in the manual it shows speeds from 0.66 - 1.21 m/s. If that's true it should be plenty fast for most triathletes :-)

Im leaning towards buying one of their pools, buying this, and getting a Vasa ERG with power meter. All of that will still be less then just the Endless Pool, and it gives us a pool to play in as a family, get my daughters started swimming, and if nothing else, the Hydro Flow will be good enough for an easy long swim just to get a feel for water.

Keep me posted as I was thinking to do the exact same thing.
I already have the VASA and am doing all of my swim training on it, about a month before a race I'll try to make it to the pool.

It will be awhile as we havent even broken ground yet on our house and there will be some things higher rated prioriry wise to deal with first (fence and a bathroom in the basement)

Interesting. We just installed an Intek 12 x 24 pool yesterday. Jumped in it this morning after my ride. If it works out I may have to buy this for the pool. For now the kids will enjoy it and my wife and I will tether swim.

Just wanted to check and see what your opinion on the resistance as well as the pool is, or if anyone else has tried this out. If you're in a colder climate, how do you keep it heated, and how much energy is it going to cost?

I just bought one of the pools the 16 round, and the hydro flow, it should all arrive in a week.
I will try to post a review of it here.
I am NOT a fast swimmer, with the flow rate posted, at max I should be able to cut my full swim time down by quite a bit.

Has anyone else purchased one of these recently?

OK, Pool arrived 2 weeks ago, I got the yard mostly level, then it rained and I needed 4 days for it to dry. Pool up for the holiday weekend, then rain every day since. So the goal will be to hook up the Hydro Flow this weekend as long as the weather holds out!

I took until yesterday to get it hooked up with work and weather. But since lunch on Friday, I have gotten in 2 swims and so has my wife.
I will make a better video next week, but here was me testing it out for a 10 minute swim. I cut it to about 50 seconds since no one wants to see my covid belly and terrible form since my last swim in March.

I will make a better video next week with a full review and go over all the functions, set up and what not. But I want to get at least 6 solid swims in first.

First impressions though, 1. At max speed I can not keep up. I normally have a 1:50/100 pace at long races. At max I had to sprint swim as fast as I could. I found at today's swim level 4 speed was 500m in 10 minutes according to its display. That is fine for a month or so as I get back into it. Take your chlorine floater out of the pool as it will keep getting sucked into and pushed out of the water column, I guess that makes it more OWS style as it beats you up.

OK, I have done 8 swims with this now, and just today at lunch made a better review of the device.
For me this is worth the money. If it is for you or not is up to you.

Let me know if you have any questions.

You did inspire me to record a video of my Bestway Swimfinity machine - with some others perspectives of the swimming itself.

From my point of view it is very similar to the Hydro Flow. Hope it helps somebody as I helps me swim.

Video is here -
