My son and I will be racing it again this year. I'd love to race conditions like last year but, as mentioned, will be happy to just avoid racing in the rain.

Who's signed up for 2024?
Just did the Fullgaz on the trainer today. Seems around mile 30 or so it'd just constant climbing.

Out of curiosity, when the race director went over the rules. What was the protocol with the horse and buggies?

At least a dozen seen in the recorded experience.

Pass or no pass?
Can they pass up hill if they had to?

Thanks.

Signing up this year - first time doing the race.

Any tips / insights from those that have done it before?? How is the course? Where to stay?

The climbing lasts for ~15k. & out where you're riding it's not like you're in the mountains. It's maybe 500-600 feet of vert from the low to high point. Then you get it all back to finish out the ride. Think I passed just a couple of horse & buggies the year I raced there. You just go around them. It's usually temperate enough that the bike course can be pretty fast.

Seemed last year it was rolling and slow after the big climb at mile 30.

Thanks.
It was a curiosity to show respect to the locals.
Just make sure you have a solid cadence when passing and not free coasting with some dt240 click clack hubs. The horse might want to race. 👍🐴

Seriously though.
