Options for larger chain ring with AXS
Currently running Force AXS with a 48/35 chainring but would like to get something bigger on the front. I am having a hard time figuring out my options - it looks like Sram sells a 52/39 - 54/41 - 56/43 as a kit with a new derailleur + power meter but all those options are $1K +. Is that my only choice or does Rotor or someone else offer any other options for cheaper? Thanks!

Can you not just buy the specific chainring set you want for $245 USD?

That’s what I looked at first, but I don’t see an option larger than 50.

My understanding is you often need a different front derailleur with more adjustment range to go above 50. That derailleur is only offered in a $$$ Red version, and is often bundled with SRAM's chainrings (the kits you are seeing).

Aaah, I just spotted this descriptor at the bottom of the Power Meter kit features:

So the gist is that they only offer the larger chainring sets as part of the power meter kit that is bundled with a different FD. Further, you can see the price jump from $881 to $1452 when you select one of the larger chainring options.

I don't know of any real option.

There are adapters from 8-bolt to other chainring bolt configuration (stone and croder I know of, but it's a bit of a hack and I tried the former with praxis chainrings and shifting suffered a lot).

Aerocoach is developing a solution but not on the market yet. (maybe Xavier can chime in with expected timeline?)

Thanks all — this is what I was afraid of haha.

It looks like you can find them online for closer to $1k but that’s still a ton of $$$. I guess it’s not a terrible deal when you factor if the rings + new derailleur + power meter, but it’s frustrating cause I could at least do without the power meter (already have one).

I recently tried to mount a Rival AXS FD to a new Crux, it wouldn't clear a 50T ring. I found this option online, intended to allow you to mount your FD lower, can't see why it can't be flipped around to mount the FD higher if need be. I sure hope it works, I've got one coming in the mail.
