What a great excuse...It was a misunderstanding and she was jet lagged. Classic

This absolutely shocked me.

Joasia is such an experienced runner with so many years of outstanding results on road, trail and track.

I just can't imagine what she was thinking.

With the outragous amount of price money in Ultra running it is easy to understand why someone would cheat. (pink)

With 350 participants, it's not such a huge event that the race marshal wouldn't remember this. I'm curious if they checked.

She should've said "I took a ride to get here, but I'd like to keep going" at which point they should've taken her chip/bib and said "off you go" or "no you don't"

It's not like she deliberately said "I feel better now; I could get a podium"

"They won't catch me" "If I am doing it, everyone is, so its not cheating" "its all part of the game"

Kind of convenient a friend with a car was right where they were needed to cheat. Its a Festivus miracle!

Not sure why you're addressing me. I didn't make her get in the car.

Blaming jet lag, I give her an "A" for the audacity of her excuse.

I'm just surprised the articles don't mention anything about her role in those early-90s Bud Light ads.

Some years ago in my first attempt at a marathon I got about halfway and came to the conclusion I was done. So I tried to call from a phone booth (yeah that long ago) but some "person" was gabbing away and I hung around forever waiting for "that person" to stop talking and after a while I ended saying "f" it, and finished the marathon (I didn't BQ to say the least). So I can have some sympathy for anyone who thinks they are done then for whatever reason changes their mind. But I pity the person who destroys their reputation in such a dumb manner.

Do double letters need to be next to each other?

That's pretty much the definition of "double-letters"

The kicker is accepting the 3rd place trophy and stealing a second time. She stole the chance for the 4th place woman to be recognized and photographed on the podium. She did give the award back, but it was too late.

for shame

I'm not sure changing your mind that your done and 'forgetting' you got a car ride are remotely similar...?

To be fair though, do the rules explicitly state that getting a ride by sitting in a comfy car instead of progressing by sheer will power on foot is forbidden?

Ok let the twitch hunt carry on

LOL

This is the most nonsensical "explanation" of cheating since that pro supposedly ate testosterone in pork or something.

I would be more ashamed to push BS this far-fetched than to admit my deed.

Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe. So I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. "Gimme five bees for a quarter," you'd say. Now where were we... oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have any white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

But I pity the person who destroys their reputation.

I think the point Gunna was making she is just a cheat, no other aspect or story about changing your mind is relevant. And deserves no pity.
