I hate this fucking scam. Great reply. Perhaps in a different life, I would have hunted these people down and subjected them to hours of strict grammar instruction puncuated by lessons in business ethics. Alas, this is but a pipe dream.

Actually, some guy recently made money out of these scams...
he received one like that (the I am the widow of late blah blah...) and started corresponding with them...the guy kept it for a full year...

he asked pictures and got the pic. of a woman on an old couch and answered 'oh, unbelevable, I have the exact same couch in my home' etc...
lasted for a long time...

then he actually wrote a novel/play out of it...will have to find the title somewhere, but apparently, it's very funny.

here is the answer and mine

Dear P

there may be a miscommunication.
The current offer I have is three hundred and forty thousand US dollars.

This is a very rare piece of collection. Please let me know as soon as possible what offer you can make as my other buyer wants to buy the goods through western union today (he is also in the UK, and travels a lot, but also has a client in the US that owes him money...what a coincidence!)

regards

I got the same one this morning... I'm going to play too... My reply :

Hey, I travel around the world on business all the time too. I buy and sell spoked rims for people, what a coincidence. Did you just start doing this, as I have never heard your name in the inner circle of "spoked rim dealers" ;)

Now, down to business, these Zipp 303's I'm selling are no longer being made, plus they were owned by a pro. So I'd sell them to you for $12,500. Let me know! "Dear Sir,
I am interested in the spoke rims that you have for sale .I want you to know that i am based in the UK but tend to travel all around the world on business .I am presently in London attending to business. This will however not disturb this transaction,i will arrange for the payment and also for the
pickup to be made after we come to an agreement.I will be in need of the details of the state and welfare of the spoke rims .
I will also like to know the final asking price of the spoke rims .As well as all other
relevant information that i will need to for the transaction to commence.
I look forward to your reply"

Could someone please provide the email of the gentleman? I would love nothing more than all of us sending emails and creating a bidding war! (and bogging him down with questions).

And the best email to this gentleman will receive one of the following (to be determined at a later date): A hat signed by everyone finishing 12th in their age group; PowerFranks (nothing to do with cycling, everything to do keeping your legs for the grilling of pork products); or the latest version of "Nina's Book of Nutrition" (I reserve the right to replace any of these fine products with an email mocking you for thinking that you would get something in the first place).
