I am going to buy a IA16 in the next few days, Trying to figure out what size frame to get. I did a GURU fit a couple months ago that has me on a 56 with a 90mm stem at 6 degree and 35mm of spacers, when I plug in my stack reach measurements into the Felt Fit Calculator it has 3 recommendations ( see below)
56 with carbon aerobars +5 with reach 2mm
54 with alloy bars +20 with reach 20mm
54 carbon aerobar +20+bridge +5 with reach 20mm
my pad reach is 490, Pad stack is 627 and seat height is 727 (according to the guru)
I am 6 foot 1 inch, any help would be appreciated, just dont want to get he wrong size frame. and all the numbers have my head spinning, am I overthinking it and the 56 is right for me?
The calculator is for the original IA with slightly different geometry and different aerobar.
From my rough measurements from my size 56 IA14 - a pad stack of 627 is almost exactly what you end up with if you use no spacers. I measured it as 628mm to the lowest point of the armrest upper surface not including the padding (not a precision measurement so there could be a few mm error). I think you can get about 15mm lower by mounting the extensions below the bar. Dave is going to let us know how that should be done, I suspect I know but it's not entirely obvious. So if I'm not mistaken, the lowest you can get the armrest (excluding pad) is around 610-615mm. I'm relatively new to riding on extensions and at the moment I'm riding 645mm pad stack, I think I'm going to switch my IA14 for a size 54 so that I have scope to drop lower if I manage to adapt to a lower position. If you might want to go lower in future the same may apply but if you're confident in the 625mm measurement a 56 may be perfect! Pad reach should be fine. I sassume that's 490mm to middle of pad? ......I presume SuperDave will chime in if I've got any of that wrong!!!
