Haven’t bought the new albums, so can’t rule on them yet. Maybe will get them for Christmas. But in the meanwhile, how would listening (or not) to our old albums impact the revenue stream of whoever it is that bought the masters? These records are pretty old now…10 or 15 years anyway.

If you bought the physical copy [CD or vinyl, even cassette; I hear they're making a comeback] they already have that money so they won't be getting any more

Streaming, however ... that's where the money is, since that's how most people listen these days

Nice cover of some Dylan, whose voice I don’t really like, so this is better…

I wouldn't call either "way better" and probably not even "better", but I would say both are truly beautiful.

Yes Covers: 2013 - Magenta - Wonderous Stories - YouTube

Steve Howe & Annie Haslam Turn Of The Century - YouTube

Listening to these, I can't help thinking if Yes could have travelled a totally different path when they replaced Jon Anderson?

I particularly love the Turn of the Century. One of my favourite Yes tracks from one of my favourite albums.

What's the ruling on Taylor Swift's re-recordings of Fearless and Red

Ruling is in on Red, and it is outstanding! We got it for Christmas and just got done listening to it several times during a couple thousand miles of driving. The vocals are incredible, and the other instruments are too. Such a great recording. I will definitely get the other one based on this listening.

I don’t know that it’s better than the original but it’s a great way to cover that song.

That phrase makes me very nervous about clicking on the link. No telling what I'll find!

I don't know if this is better than the original but it's good. And I want to see if I can pull off posting it properly :)

I wouldn't say this one is "way better" as it's a pretty straight sell of the original - just flipping genders, which is always fun

Some people don't like The Killers, so ANY cover would be an improvement

Better? Probably not.

A cover? Sort of, maybe, perhaps?

But it's a little crazy, damn impressive and their clips make me smile.

This is a pretty straightforward cover, until about 3:00, when something happens, and continues to happen for quite some time

Hard to be better than Crowded House. But, can't wait to see them outdoors in August.

Damn hard. You remind me though that, in a somewhat understated way, one of the best concerts I have ever seen was Neil Finn and Paul Kelly in concert at Sydney Opera House. The backing band was largely their own families, and they sang their own and each other's songs, delivering some great versions of each of their classics, each being about half 'cover' and half original artist.

I was prompted to see if there were any clips available, and it turns out the whole 2.5 hour concert is here. Don't Dream It's Over comes 2 hours and 4 minutes in. You might need to be Australian or Kiwi to think so, but there is also about 40 more of the best songs ever written. Worth dipping into.
