Looks like Mike McCarthy dodged the bullet. He has one year left on his contract.

Harbaugh to the Chargers. I seem to remember him promising Michigan he was done considering NFL jobs after the Vikings job fell through last year.

Under investigation for 2 different level 1 NCAA violations and he bolts for the NFL Pete Carrol style.

Oh I fully anticipate a show cause for him and possibly a vacating of the national championship....

Miami and Buffalo both have young MVP-caliber QB's.

Josh Allen isn't that young anymore. And Allen really isn't an "MVP caliber" QB with Mahommes, Burrow and Jackson in the AFC, he's the 4th best QB in the conference at best.
And Tua, not even close to MVP caliber I think it would be a stretch to say he's even the 10th best QB in the league. I think he started to get found out the later half of the season. Also, having the best playmaker wideout probably in the league makes him look better than he actually is.

That said, Pats have a tough hill to climb. They don't really have any talent on offense, there isn't a single real threat. Andrews is a solid center, everyone is average at best. It seems like they would need at least 2 good drafts and sign a top free agent receiver to be any good.

I'm curious how busy the portal gets in Michigan. May give Alabama the chance to load back up using former UM players.

Michigan's time in the sun is going to be short-lived it seems.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Everything I've seen is that they will give Sherrone Moore the job. That should limit a lot of the transfers out. I'm happy for them, they are getting their Bobby Williams.

He's old

True dat. But the man can still coach. The team that ends up with him is in effect getting a short term loan because he's going to cash out after passing Shula.

Not many Belichik disciples have done well. See Matt Patricia, Josh McDaniels, Nick Saban (in the NFL), Bill O'Brien, Brian Flores (he got jobbed I think), Romeo Crennel, I'm sure I'm missing a few. Though I'll agree Vrabel is the exception.

Vrabel is probably the exception because he’s not from the Belichick tree

Not from the tree but still a disciple. Eight years with BB, he brought a lot of "the Patriots way" to the Titans.

The Cardinals reportedly thought Belichick might just be looking for a short term gig, and they wanted someone for the next few years. He’s also likely very expensive, and would probably want a degree of control that not every team would be interested in giving to him.

“The Patriots Way” was Tom Brady, BB is a sub .500 coach without him. Calling Vrabel a BB disciple is a stretch when he undoubtedly was also influenced by Bill Cowher and Urban Meyer

4th best in the AFC probably still puts him at 4th best in the NFL. And I wasn’t aware that 27 is suddenly considered old for a QB…and looking back he finished 2nd in the MVP vote in 2020 and 3rd in the vote last year…

I'm just repeating what I was told by someone here who used to work for both the Pats and the Titans. I'll believe him.

On the topic of coaching tree’s, I saw this on Reddit awhile back. Someone went and organized all the head coaches in the NFL (at the time) under one tree with 3 main arms:
