Is that Japan? Those look like shoji screens.

Man...I know it may not be the prettiest but get some mats. I sure as shit would not be lifting weights on hardwood no matter what the weight. Things slip, plates fall etc.

Pic was taken before the mats I ordered got here (with Covid it is tough getting anything related to fitness in a timely manner). And all of the dumbbells and weights are rubber-coated to minimize any possible damage. Still waiting on dumbbell rack and other components

Gotcha! Good call...I went with TCS Horse Stall Mats which are the defacto home gym industry standard. 3/4" thick so no worries about damaging the floor beneath. You're right about everything being tough to get...plenty of people now building up their home gyms.

I wanted a Rep Fitness short power rack but they sold out in a few hours this morning after re-opening...I'll just have to wait til all these people list their stuff on FB Marketplace after their regular gyms open up.

All of my dumbbells and free weights are REP as well. Good gear at good prices

They are mock-shoji screens with paper that's a bit more durable than real rice paper. And in Boston, not Japan. A previous occupant put the screens in and they're lovely, I re-papered them about 6 years ago and they've held up well since. Nice for dividing a space without real doors and hiding storage behind.

We once had a trick-or-treater come to the door and exclaim "Wow! A ninja room!" ;)

Pretty basic setup. Office / man-den / workout room. Equipment goes in a side hallway when not being used.

I might be losing my mind but clearly thats a big mirror at the far wall reflecting everything going on. The only problem is the top TV screen appears to be showing something different to the reflection!!!!!! Freaky!

It's not a mirror. It's a window to a parallel universe.

I’m impressed. I’m in a tin garage that gets super hot and cold depending on the time of year.

I could section off part of it doing what you have done and the install a split system heating cooling unit.

Really grateful you shared this.

A new paincave for a new home ..... so I need some input .... current layout plan is below.....

What are the must haves?
What is an item you can't live without?
What did you wish you installed, but didn't?
What kind of Flooring do you recommend?

What kind of endless pool is recommended? It is going outdoors under a covered area.

So lets get some ideas rolling.......will document this journey once building work starts...

thats really cool, but how the hell do you swim on the vasa with so little room? i swim on a vasa and to me that seems so super narrow of a space.
